Amazing that 40 years ago tomorrow, the greatest music festival in the history of this country took place. It was in the rural town of Bethel, NY on the the 600 acre dairy farm owned by Max Yasgur. Bethel is actually located 43 miles southwest of the town of Woodstock, NY. Nonetheless, the event took place and was stacked with an incredible lineup of sorts. Over the three days between August 15, 1969 and August 18, 1969 some 32 acts took the stage to entertain the crowd that registered near a half a million concertgoers. Among the performers were none other than the likes of Arlo Guthrie, Joan Baez, Santana, Canned Heat, Greatful Dead, CCR, Janis Joplin, Sly and the Family Stone, The Who, Joe Cocker, The Band, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, Neil Young and Jimi Hendrix. Obviously there was so much more and all had an impact on music as we know it. I couldn't imagine being a youth at that time, much less being at that concert. I mean sex, drugs and rock and roll all in one field. Really makes you wonder how many people today were conceived at Woodstock. I am sure the numbers are staggering.
