Coleman signs deal with Royals

Louis Coleman signed Monday with the Kansas City Royals, according to an LSU news release. The Royals selected the senior right-hander in the fifth round of last month’s MLB draft, taking him with the 152nd overall pick. Coleman will begin his pro career with the Burlington (Iowa) Bees, Kansas City’s Single-A affiliate in the Midwest League. Should he progress through the Royals’ organization, he likely would pitch again in Omaha, Neb., where the club’s Triple-A affiliate plays.
