The 12-0 club
I really don't recall there ever being this many undefeated teams in the world of sports at one time. This past weekend, Bama and Florida, both 12-0 respectively squared off in the SEC championship AND Texas(12-0) played Nebraska in the Big 12 title game...Bama and Texas now 13-0 and will battle for #14. In addition, the college world has a few other teams in the 12+ win, 0 loss column, Boise State, Cincinnati, and TCU. Fortunately Boise and TCU will play in the Fiesta Bowl, so that score will be settled. Cincy gets Florida, good luck with that in Tebows last college game EVER. So seriously, what the hell is going on? How did all this happen? Is it the schedule? Sure there were probably a fair share of close games along the way, but are these teams really that dominant within there conferences? Apparently so.It is really quite the anomaly in respect to years past. Although I think the College game has been building towards this level of dominance. In recent years past there has, more often than not, been at least 2 undefeated teams and 3 at best. But 5 and would have been 6 had Florida and Bama not played in the same conference. I really wish there was a clear cut answer to all this and in a way I wish that all conferences would have more parity. We would get a competitive game most weeks instead of a blowout. Unfortunately that will never happen. There is always going to be a few teams that are just that good. Which moves us on to the NFL....Colts and Saints....Can you dig it? Granted the Redskins snatched defeats away from the jaws of victory, but still. The Saints never let off the gas. They kept coming after them until they finally wore the skins down. The Colts are fantastic too and won a little bit easier to move to 12-0. Could it happen? Two undefeated teams meeting in the Super Bowl...Well at this point, with the craziness in the college game, I am not doubting it in the NFL and I honestly hope it happens just like most of the rest of the world. Sure the game is different going from college to NFL but if you got talent, I guess you just got talent.
Anyway, there is really nothing educational to gain from this blurb. I just wrote it because of the fact that there are so many undefeated out there. And I am sure there are some people that don't follow sports like we do here at the base station so I wanted to bring this to there attention, if they even read this stuff we write. To run the table is pretty sweet but that is easier said than done. I hope we get to see it happen in the NFL. Till then, enjoy the rest of your monday
