Take it on home...

Great Cover of a Classic

The 12-0 club

I really don't recall there ever being this many undefeated teams in the world of sports at one time. This past weekend, Bama and Florida, both 12-0 respectively squared off in the SEC championship AND Texas(12-0) played Nebraska in the Big 12 title game...Bama and Texas now 13-0 and will battle for #14. In addition, the college world has a few other teams in the 12+ win, 0 loss column, Boise State, Cincinnati, and TCU. Fortunately Boise and TCU will play in the Fiesta Bowl, so that score will be settled. Cincy gets Florida, good luck with that in Tebows last college game EVER. So seriously, what the hell is going on? How did all this happen? Is it the schedule? Sure there were probably a fair share of close games along the way, but are these teams really that dominant within there conferences? Apparently so.It is really quite the anomaly in respect to years past. Although I think the College game has been building towards this level of dominance. In recent years past there has, more often than not, been at least 2 undefeated teams and 3 at best. But 5 and would have been 6 had Florida and Bama not played in the same conference. I really wish there was a clear cut answer to all this and in a way I wish that all conferences would have more parity. We would get a competitive game most weeks instead of a blowout. Unfortunately that will never happen. There is always going to be a few teams that are just that good. Which moves us on to the NFL....Colts and Saints....Can you dig it? Granted the Redskins snatched defeats away from the jaws of victory, but still. The Saints never let off the gas. They kept coming after them until they finally wore the skins down. The Colts are fantastic too and won a little bit easier to move to 12-0. Could it happen? Two undefeated teams meeting in the Super Bowl...Well at this point, with the craziness in the college game, I am not doubting it in the NFL and I honestly hope it happens just like most of the rest of the world. Sure the game is different going from college to NFL but if you got talent, I guess you just got talent.

Anyway, there is really nothing educational to gain from this blurb. I just wrote it because of the fact that there are so many undefeated out there. And I am sure there are some people that don't follow sports like we do here at the base station so I wanted to bring this to there attention, if they even read this stuff we write. To run the table is pretty sweet but that is easier said than done. I hope we get to see it happen in the NFL. Till then, enjoy the rest of your monday

EGG BOWL RECAP

THAT IS ALL

Post Turkey Thoughts...and some recollections

Cool, my neighbor let me have internet access this weekend. Not real sure about the schedule, it is like here one day and gone the next so we will make valuable use of this time. Since the last post we once again were proven wrong and the Rebs escaped Oxford with a close one. Thanks LSU. I actually got to attend the game, albiet I had to watch the Ole Miss Coaches show and read the paper to find out what happened, I was there. A quick recap: We and I will refer to the crew as "we" for the duration of this piece and I also will not be referring to them in there real names as to protect the innocent. For story sake, we will refer to them as John, Paul, George and Ringo. So you have gathered there are 5 of us. Well, the 5 of us strike out from the metropolis of Greenwood via limo with a bunch of booze and beer. I don't think we tried to drink it all on the way up there but we didn't check up once we started. We get to oxford and get dropped off front and center....The Grove. Straight Pimping right; rolling out of a limo for the biggest game of the year. I felt cool for a little bit until I realized our limo was knocking like some old beat up Ford Tempo and fortuantely I ran into someone that I knew immediately. He pointed it out. So all that aside, we grove, we eat, we drink, we shotgun a damn beer in the grove. Never have I ever done that and I still feel a little trashy for doing so, but we (not the orignal 5, but a seperate 2) got challenged by some LSU students so we had to represent. I mean, you can't just back down when they draw a line in the dirt you know. I am pleased to announce that we won. No BS!! Anyway, after that display of classlessness we make our way to the game. Its packed, Its rocking and me and John and Paul have great seats. George and Ringo are sitting elsewhere and I am sure that they had a great time as well.

So I am snacking on popcorn...really don't know why...I just got through eating the equivalency of a whole chicken in tenders in the grove, but nonetheless, I wanted popcorn. Popcorn is a great snack and it also doubles as a fantastic celebration type confetti to toss in the air and amongst your fellow participants when the team does something good. After I tossed the remaining half the box in the air after a Rebel TD, John informed me that I could not have anymore popcorn. Fair enough. So the game progresses and the whole time John is on the phone with an outside source who will remain nameless about going up to his skybox. We got the Green light towards the end of the Third quarter and away we went. I didn't know what to expect, I had never watched a game from up there. I am too middle class for all that, but glad I got to experience it at least once. It's nothing special. There were so many people in there that we were basically working the door. I kinda felt like security. However, unbeknownst to myself you can have pretty much whatever you want to drink in the "Box". We were located adjacent to a fine cooler full of beer, which was good and bad if you know what I mean. Anyway, games over, Rebs survive and we start to roll out. We make our way out of the stadium and boy was that a journey. I mean me, john, and Paul were challenged with the basics of taking a step. Fortunately, we got back to our location of arrival and sitting there is our limo. It was hanging out there in the darkness, making no noise, but it could have been off. Who really knows at this point. Amazingly, George and Ringo arrived about the same time as we did to this chariot of consumption. We all just kind of looked at each other and said, well, I guess we can go back to Greenwood now. It was for the best. Any post-game celebration on our part could have resulted in some really bad shit happening. I mean fights and full on breakdown of all human and social services. Basically, the worst part is in the bible. We were toast.

So we load up and if you think that I am going to end this story by saying we all went to sleep on the ride home, well you are sadly mistaken. Me and Paul proceeded to put them back the whole trip home. We arrive at our destination which is located across the street from a bar. Touche!! We look around, and say, "F IT", lets go get a beer. It is a light crowd for a Saturday as most people are either in bed or still in Oxford but we basically turn up the gas when we get inside. That beer prophecy in the parking lot was just a sham. It was on to the leaded varieties, most of which I spilled on myself, and allot of misplaced and confused conversations which I have no recollection of having. I did manage to shut that place down and then I proceeded to walk home. It is only like a mile away so it was no biggie although it seemed like it took me a week to get home. I will end this by saying that I woke up on top of my bed with my clothes and shoes on, all the lights in the house on and the TV up to a volume just below a scream. It was a fun day. It was a memorable day that was almost forgotten. Thank you BBM and text messaging for making this story possible.

Moving Right along, It seems I was right about the Bullpups. They pounded it down our throat and made us like it. What a beatdown. It was like pistol whipping a blind kid. Just not fair.

Update, Recap and the Truth

Well well now Rebs, I have never been so happy to be proved wrong. Thank you for that dose of beatdown you put on the Vols. And what else can you say about Dex. I mean, the guy obviously reads this thread and got pissed off and wanted to shut me up. I hope he can shut me and a few more opossing defenses up like he did last week. It is wishful thinking that he could duplicate that performance again and again, but it sure would be nice if he could. Anyway, Tigers coming to town, Crockett will be in attendance for support. Honestly, I just don't know how I feel about this one. I will stoked if we can win this one and I think we definately got stronger as a team during last weeks game, but you can throw all that out the window. Sure LSU had a close game last week but that doesn't mean a thing other than they are probably ticked at the performance and want to exact some pain on the Rebs, who coincidentally are coming off there most complete game of the season. It is a Catch 22 literally and figuratively speaking. If Dex is contained, its the Tigers. If not, then I see the Rebs pulling this one out. I hope that my post a few weeks ago will hold true and the Rebs can prove me wrong again. If you remember, I said, the rebs lose out. Here is to hoping ang wishing for a win, but nonetheless a thrilling game. Peace

Rebs/Vols Preview

Well the Rebs have a big game this weekend in O-town with the Vols. Historically, the Vols have the Rebs number and like I said earlier, I just don't see us pulling this one out. I hope like hell the Rebs can get a win and build some momentum going into the last two conference games and put themselves in position for a nice bowl game. I really do, but the Rebs have not been to impressive against conference foes when the competition is tough. Here is to hoping and wishing....and proving me wrong.

HOSED!

I'm not one to blame refs for a loss but this was ridiculous. LSU played their ass off and I'm not saying that things would have turned out different if some calls went their way, but it sure would have been nice to see them have a chance. First here is a picture of the corner being blocked on Julio Jones long touchdown.

Sure looks like a block in the back to me. And next here is the interception that was ruled incomplete by the replay official.

Not only does some chump in the cheap seats get a picture of it, but the second one is from one of CBS's cameras which the replay official had access to. I guess on the bright side, there are rumblings out of Ann Arbor that certain someone's want Rich Rod out so they can go after Miles. I see no reason for Miles not to go since LSU won't be in the middle of a National Championship run. If this happens it will make me happy.

And We're Back!!!.......

Well first off I would like to apologize for the absence from this post. Sorry to have let so many of you down over the past few weeks. Secondly, I would like to thank my neighbor for getting his computer fixed and getting the wireless network set back up. You see, I am running my Internet off his Internet. He knows about it so don't bother ratting me out. Anyway, what all have I missed? Not to damn much. In the past couple of weeks I have noticed that the sporting world is starting to get back to normal. I mean Ole Miss is awful, at best; and the Yankees are the Champs for the 27th time in franchise history. World's back to normal right? So, Ole Miss....friggin Ole Miss. As much as it pains me to say this, I hope that Rebel nation enjoys the last win of the season because there are no more to be had. Tennessee, LSU, and Bullpups. Not winning any of those...Sorry. Hate me if you want, but don't hate me when it happens because I am telling the truth.

I would like to say we might steal one against either Tennessee or State but I just don't think its happening. Especially not against the Bullies. They are playing with a purpose and there schedule could come down to an Egg Bowl victory puts them in a bowl games and keeps the Rebs at home. Well, if it does, game over Ole Miss. I really hope that doesn't happen but I am a realist not a dreamer and I am just calling it like I see it. Rebs lose out and go to the Library for shots.

So Halloween was fun this year, but I found that there was a real lacking in the slutty girl outfits. I mean, my outfit wasn't spectacular and I'm not a girl, but I didn't have all week, day or month to put it together. I work for a living. Just for the future, Halloween is the one day of the year that you(women) can get away with this and not be judged. Embrace that opportunity because the other 364 days of the year you are just a hootchie if you go around dressed like that.

Moving right along.....Older ladies....It may or may not be the best idea to rake the yard in sponge rollers and a bathrobe. I am not judging you, but I did almost have a wreck tying to make sure I was seeing what I thought I saw. Frightening is what that is. And damn lady, what was is with the scowl on your face. I swear that lady looked at me like she wanted to kill me. Maybe it was because I slowed down, rolled the window down and honked the horn. I don't know....maybe that was it. I just thought yard raking had its on dress code and that it wasn't open for whatever and the hell you want to put on.

Anyway, it feels great to be back here amongst you...spinning yarns... bitching about Ole Miss and what have you. I promise, there is more to come.

It's Monday...Why Not!!

Saw this video on the Barstool and couldn't resist. I know some folks from the Bluff, not these people obviously. Anyway, it was going good for about :30 seconds and then all hell broke loose...It was on. Everybody, well almost everybody, got in the action. I don't think the video would have been worth it had it not been the bravery of the trick working the camera. It was like she was ringside at Ali/Frazier.......Here is some of her commentary for you to salivate on: At the 1:08 mark, "A street riot...Everybody fighting" That is just good play-by-play work, I don't care what you say. And then at the at the 1:40 mark, "I am about to go...F this....this is ganster shit right here"......You just can't make this stuff up. That is just straight calling it like she sees it.... And you really can't argue with those dance moves at the 2:30 mark and the 2:54 mark.....That is club shit right there. And I can assure you the next time I am around and a fight breaks out, I am yelling, "You better beat that bitches ass". I don't care if it is dudes.

Rebel Recap

You just can't do much when you have six turnovers and your defense is on the field for 38+ minutes. It is pretty obvious the Rebel offense is on the operating table, the paddles are warmed up... Clear.. nothing... straight flatline....Just dead. I feel bad for the defense.. they are doing everything they can. They held Bama to field goals despite being put in some tough situations. Sure, the talented back Ingram from Bama had 170+ on the ground and a score, but hell he had 38 minutes to work with. Give Bama all the credit in the world. They are good across the board, offense, defense, etc. For the Rebels.....I hope they can generate some offense to try and get things going over the next 7 games. Still got a shot at having a respectable season if they can do so. If not, I don't know what the hell to expect. Not much else to say about it other than it was pretty much another moral victory to be able to hang around with the #3 team in the country. I am sure there are some thinking what if? What if they didn't turn the ball over so much..etc... Have fun dealing with that. Homecoming is next week against UAB. That should be interesting.

WORST LSU OFFENSE EVER...

Who's to blame

The answer

GAMEDAY SIGNS

I always enjoy watching college gameday to see what signs people come up with. Some are dirty like one today which read "Tim Tebow loves Coach Urban Meyer" (the first letters were in bold to highlight CUM) and some are just down right clever like the Patrick Peterson follow me windmill. I'm sure all of you State fans remember the 93 yard punt return by Chad Jones in the game this year, but what LSU fans talk more about is Patrick Peterson running 40 yards doing his arm in a windmill motion telling Jones to follow him. Someone made a cutout of Peterson today where the arm moved and had it on gameday.

Here is the video of the punt return so you can see it happen for real

Now here is the video of the cutout someone had on gameday. It's right above Herbie's left shoulder.

Now that just clever thinking by a Tiger fan. FYI Tebow has been medically cleared to play tonight.

What a Month!!

So I bought this calender at the first of the year because it was a Chuck Norris calender and it has some clever saying each month. You have all probably heard a million of the Chuck Norris jokes, but it really cracked me up that this month was singled out. Anyway, make the most of it.

Will he play???

MLB Playoffs start Today

I know I have been slacking on this and some of you could probably care less about baseball, but this is what those guys are playing for. I took 162 games to get here. 163 for one team, which was by far an instant classic. If you didn't see it, that is a shame. We would post a video of the highlights but there is this whole copyright issue. Anyway, out of the American League you got the Yankees taking on those pesky Twins and Boston trying to continue there dominance of the Angels in the postseason. Out of the National league, the Phillies are taking on the Rockies and The Dodgers have the task of dealing with the Cardinals. This is going to be good.

Here's hoping the Rebs don't get killed

So, there are several big games taking place this weekend across the nation, but more importantly the SEC. None bigger than the #1 Gators taking a trip to Red stick to take on the #4 Tigers. It will be epic for sure. Not gonna go into any detail about the upcoming game, that is Mac's department. However, another storyline is the #20 Rebs hosting the #3 Tide. Bama has pretty much had the Rebels number for eternity. The last time Ole Miss beat Bama was in 2003 and I really hope we can pull the upset...although I am not that confident. The Rebs have looked mediocre at best this season, so as the title says, here's hoping the Rebs don't get killed.

SEC Home Opener: #16/20 Ole Miss (3-1, 1-1) vs. #3/3 ALABAMA (5-0, 2-0)

The Tide has escaped each of the last three meetings by four points or less including last year’s 24-20 result in Tuscaloosa. The teams have split the last four encounters at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, although the Tide enjoys a 6-2 on-the-field edge in Oxford.

DEFENSIVE NOTES • Ole Miss is averaging 6.75 tackles for loss per game and notched a season-high 10.0 at Memphis ... The Rebels tied for the nation’s lead in TFLs in 2008 averaging 8.62 pg.

• The Ole Miss defense did not allow a pass completion to Vanderbilt in the first half ... The Commodores finished with just 69 passing yards.

• Five different Rebels have posted interceptions this year ... At Vanderbilt, sophomore CB Marcus Temple became the latest with his first career pick.

•Three of the Rebels’ top four tacklers at Vanderbilt were linebackers ... Senior LB Patrick Trahan led the team in stops with a career-high 11, including two TFLs, while junior LB Jonathan Cornell equaled his career-best of eight tackles. Junior LB Allen Walker added five stops.

NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART

Rebs get past Perennial Cupcake Vandy

Well I didn't get to see all of the game due to a little thing called a job, but I guess I can be pleased with a victory and a 3-1 record at this point in the season. As much as the Rebel nation craves victory this is kinda new territory considering years past. Nonetheless, on the road in the SEC is never really as easy at it may seem on paper. Granted the Rebels controlled the clock and played inspired defense they still had there stumbles, like 3 pics. However, this was countered with 3 td passes by Jevan. I guess next week should be interesting with Bammer coming to town. Anyway, I don't have much else. Like I said, didn't get to see much of the game to form an opinion and I am way to hungover to try and get philosophical about this, so postgame notes.

SERIES INFORMATION
This game was the 84th meeting between Ole Miss and Vanderbilt dating back to 1894 ... It is the Rebels' third-most played series behind Mississippi State (105) and LSU (97).
The Rebels lead the series 47-35-2 and have won 13 of the last 17 meetings since 1992.

The Rebels split their first two SEC games for the second straight year.

OFFENSIVE NOTES
Senior WR Shay Hodge notched his second career 100-yard receiving game and first of the year with a career-high eight receptions for season-high 122 yards and two TDs, which tied his career high ... Hodge's two scoring grabs move him alone into second on the Ole Miss all-time TD receptions list with 17.
Junior QB Jevan Snead recorded season highs in every category, completing 19-of-34 for 237 yards, three TDs and three interceptions ... Snead has completed at least one TD pass in 13 consecutive games, which is three short of Eli Manning's school record ... He also tossed multiple TDs for the ninth time in the last 10 games ... Snead's 34 pass attempts are a career high ... He rushed for a career-high 28 yards, including a career-long run of 24 yards ... Snead's a streak of two straight games with no interceptions came to an end with his most picks since committing four in last year's Vanderbilt game.

Sophomore RB Brandon Bolden led the team in rushing for the third time in four games this year with 89 yards on a career-high 16 carries ... He tied his career high for receptions with three, going for 22 yards and his second career TD.
Ole Miss is averaging 39.0 points over its last eight games.

DEFENSIVE NOTES
The Rebels are allowing just 10.8 points per game this year ... Dating back to last season, Ole Miss is holding opponents to just 11.3 points over the last eight games.

Ole Miss held the opposition under 300 yards of total offense for the third time this year and eighth time under head coach Houston Nutt.

The Ole Miss defense did not allow a pass completion to Vanderbilt in the first half ... The Commodores finished with just 69 passing yards.

In just his second career game, freshman P Tyler Campbell booted a 57-yarder to the Vanderbilt 4 yard line ... It was just one yard shy of the Rebels' long punt of 2008 ... Campbell averaged 46.7 yards on three punts on the day.
With senior Justin Sparks out today with injury, junior Richie Contartesi handled holder duties for the first time in his career.

LSU WINS DESPITE COACHES

I'm sure some of you thought I would come on here and say I was wrong last week when I called for the firing of Les Miles. Well, not so fast. If you watched the game yesterday you saw as well as I did that the LSU players won despite the coaching staff. LSU completely dominated the first half but only had 6 points because as soon as they got in the red zone, the coached completely shut down the playbook. I'm happy we won, but Miles still scares the shit out of me. On a side note, it's time to take the Ferrari out of the garage. Russell Shepard (pictured above) has been unstoppable when he comes in the game. Shepard has 17 carries for 106 yards and is averaging 6.2 yards per carry, and all of those yards come despite the defense knowing he is getting the ball when he comes in the game. Shepard has 0 yards for loss. I'll say that again, Shepard has 0 yards for loss. Shepard has yet to be on the field when he did not run the ball and has gotten positive yards every time. The defense is putting 8 men in the box and still can not stop him. Imagine if they let the 2008 #1 dual threat quarterback throw the ball once every now and then. I think Jefferson is an adequate quarterback and should continue to start, but it's blatantly obvious that Shepard it our best playmaker even as a true freshman. It's time to turn him loose Les.

Hello Weekend

Have a great weekend. Hope it's like this..

Careful at work...language

Time to show up

Sure the Rebels are playing Vandy and for the most part, Vandy is worse than Ole Miss, but as I have said before and will continue to say, Nothing that Ole Miss has done thus far has impressed me. It is time to put up or shut up. If they lose to Vandy; If they so much as have a close game at Vandy, then there is no telling how bad Bama is going to destroy them the following week in Oxford. Just facts people. The Rebs have been off for two weeks. That is more than enough time to get everyone who is ill better and work on that lack of offense. Mostly getting Dexter involved in the game a little sooner than midway through the 3rd quarter. It is time for Ja-von to be Jevan. Before we get to the info about the upcoming matchup I will leave you with this quote. It comes from a man who is now pretty much hated for his ability in calling games from the booth. All that aside, it doesn't diminish what he accomplished as a coach. I am talking about John Madden...

"Don't worry about the blind mule; Just load the wagon"

Something to think about for all you out there. Now a little series info:

Today's Edition:

Stickin it to the man!!

The Adventures of Magnum P.I.G

Well looks like we have a new guest spot on the blog. I will be telling tales and spinning yarns about the upcoming competition BBQ cooking season as seen through the eyes of a local team, the before mentioned, Magnum P.I.G. That's right, all the fat. Maybe not all, but we will keep up to date with them and how they fair in various events. Now in case you are wondering what my relationship is to these fellows, well first off they are friends. Secondly, I am there liaison to the public eye other than the local paper. You may have seen them recently in the Commonwealth were they garnered a whole quarter of a page. And third, I had a small part in the name and I am available to them if they need a special order through my various purveyors that I deal with in my line of work. I guess you could say I am honorary member.

Anyway, the boys struck out this past weekend and competed in "The Great Ruleville Roast" and came away with 1st place in the Rib category. They entered other categories, like chicken and beans, but were in the middle of the pack in those categories. As a team overall they were in the middle of the pack as well. There were 18 total teams in the event, so for a first time out as unit, I would say nabbing a 1st in Ribs and finishing in the middle overall was a pretty good outing. Team members for the P.I.G are Otis, Cooter, Sweetpea, and Smiley. I went with the nicknames to allow for some level of privacy on there part. Lord knows they don't need stalkers.

Up next for the boys is the Pig Pickin over in Cleveland. This is a 'Memphis in May' sanctioned event so the competition will be greater as will be the stakes.
I am sure some of you are wondering what that bus is in the background. Well, that is the cooking rig and we will have pictures up for your viewing pleasure as soon as we get them.

IF LAST NIGHT WASN'T BAD ENOUGH, HERE'S AN EXTRA KICK IN THE CROTCH

CBS really dogging the Rebs after the game last night. Here's a snippet from the article. Click the link to read the whole thing.

"One of those lessons is this: Never, ever take the Ole Miss football program seriously. Not this seriously, anyway. No. 4? Ole Miss? Look -- in a pretty good year, Ole Miss will be the No. 4 team in the SEC West. In a very good year, Ole Miss will be the No. 4 team in the entire conference. But No. 4 in the country? Ole Miss? Come on. Archie Manning isn't walking through that door again. John Fourcade, maybe. But not Archie."

Questions? Answered!!

Well I have been saying it the over our past two games, I wasn't sure how good we were and I think we all saw that answer tonight. We got beat up pretty bad by the Cocks and Snead had what I hope is the last of his most awful days as a Rebel. However, if the train doesn't get back on the track soon and I mean real soon, we are in for a long haul. Naturally, I didn't get to see every single play but I saw enough to form an opinion and that opinion is that we really didn't deserve that high of a preseason ranking. I am sure some of the Rebel faithful will ask for my head for saying that but hey, I am just calling it like I see it. The good news is now we can move forward and just play football. I am sure the team felt allot of pressure being ranked so high. I felt the pressure and I don't even play for the Rebs. I am not trying to make some self-imposed "Tebow" type of speech here, but I really think if the team gets better than some good will come from this loss. We may even slip up and beat somebody we aren't supposed to beat, but of course that remains to be seen and the Rebels have a great deal of work to do in order for that too happen.

With that being said, I really thought we were going to rally that one out there at the end. I remember about the time we got the ball, down by six, someone saying, "Its time to shit or get off the pot". Unfortunately, we got off the pot. And you could make a case for a few blown calls that would have gone in our favor, but that is just shoulda, woulda, coulda and making excuses. South Carolina beat us up pretty bad. There defense played pretty great all night and there offense did what was needed to win, they got points most of the time they had the opportunity. It might have been field goals but they count too last time I checked. I thought our defense played pretty solid considering that they were put into a lot of difficult situations. As the game was progressing I was pretty pleased that we were able to hold them to 3 instead of a TD when they got into scoring position. Our offense was the downfall and that can be directly attributed to how well South Carolina played on D and some sloppiness on our part.

Anyway, there is still allot of football left to be played, so this is not the end of the world even though it sucks a big one. I look forward to see how the Rebels respond next week and then we will worry about whether we have a sno-balls chance in hell against Bama. Till then, peace.

1st Test?!?... F

I can see the headline now. "Rebels take on Cocks and choke!"

1st Test?!?

Well I guess the whole country gets to find out if we are worthy of our #4 ranking. Going to be a tough one and I am sure the Ole ball coach has got some tricks up his sleeve, he usually does. Anywho, I am pretty excited about it and just hope that we can put it all together for a victory. Naturally, I will put up some thoughts about the game whether we win or lose, but lets hope it is a win. Here is just a sample of info you can attain from the Ole Miss website. I just wanted to wet your beak a little...

SERIES INFO: This game will be the 15th meeting between Ole Miss and South Carolina dating back to 1947, and the sixth since the Gamecocks joined the SEC in 1992. The Rebels lead the series 8-6 and had won five straight meetings until South Carolina defeated the Rebels 31-24 last season in Oxford. Ole Miss has won four of the five SEC meetings: 30-28 at Oxford in 1998, 36-10 in 1999 at Columbia, 43-40 in Oxford in 2003 and 31-28 in Columbia in 2004, which was the last encounter at Carolina. The Rebels have won four straight in Williams-Brice Stadium and boast a 4-3 all-time mark in Columbia.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR: With eight straight wins, Ole Miss is riding its longest win streak in nearly 37 years and boasts the second-longest current streak in the nation ... The Rebels are shooting for a 3-0 start for the first time since 1989 ... The Rebels are seeking to snap a five-game skid in SEC openers ... Ole Miss is averaging 46.5 points over its last six games ... Jevan Snead is riding a school-record streak of eight straight games with multiple TD passes.

SOUTH CAROLINA SCOUTING REPORT: The Gamecocks rebounded from a 41-37 SEC-opening setback at Georgia to dismantle Florida Atlantic 38-16 Saturday in their home opener. After a slow offensive start to the season, Carolina has averaged 39.5 points in its last two games. Sophomore QB Stephen Garcia ranks second in the SEC in total offense at 253.0 yards per game. The USC defense ranks fourth in the SEC in total defense (249.3 ypg) and second in rush defense (87.3 ypg). The unit is also tied for the league lead in sacks with 10, led by senior All-SEC LB Eric Norwood with four.

CAROLINA COACHING TIES: Before joining the Rebels, defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Tyrone Nix spent three seasons at South Carolina 2005-07. In 2007, he coached inside linebackers in addition to coordinating a Gamecock defense that topped the SEC and ranked fifth nationally in pass defense, allowing just 168.8 yards through the air. Under Nix’s watch, the USC defense in 2006 was sixth in the SEC and 29th in the country in scoring defense, surrendering 18.7 points per game, 4.5 fewer than in 2005 despite returning just one starter. In his first year in Columbia, Nix served as co-defensive coordinator and tutored the defensive line.

SEC OPENERS• Ole Miss is 30-42-3 in SEC openers ... The last league-opening win came in 2003 in Nashville, 24-21 over the Commodores ... The Rebels are just 2-14 in their last 16 conference openers.• The Rebels are 14-25-3 in SEC openers on the road ... The last league-opening road win came in 2003 in Nashville, 24-21 over the Commodores. • Ole Miss is beginning its SEC schedule with South Carolina for the first time.

Florida Still #1

Thanks for the pic Crazy Legs

Top Ten Movies About Football - Quarterback Edition

Honorable Mention Category:

These are the guys that almost made the cut. Some of them just didn't have the resume to be on the list but we will celebrate them anyway.

Randall 'Pink' Floyd - "Dazed and Confused" - I guess I can understand him not wanting to play by the rules. It was 1976, but he owed it too his team to fall in line with the coaches request of getting the petition signed and not engage in any alcohol or drug related activity that would somehow jeopardize those dreams of a championship season in '77. It all had to do with that other crowd he was running around with and his main concern that summer was getting Aerosmith tickets. Can you blame the guy? Still the old-timers at the little league game felt he had the talent, he just has a 5 cent head on top of his shoulders.

Rifleman - "All the Right Moves" - Rifleman was talented enough to lead the team, he just had some knuckleheads on the other side of the ball and got put in some bad situations. Still, a quality QB would have made something out of nothing.

Johnny Utah - "Point Break" - Never saw him play a snap but he did perform well on the Beach, with the board and the ball. I guess he felt the FBI was the highest level he could achieve.

Paul Crewe - "The Longest Yard" (2005) - Interesting remake of a classic and it certainly had its highlights. I mean can you argue with a guy named Cheeseburger Eddie. Still doesn't hold a candle to 1974 film.

Lance Harbor- "Varsity Blues" -This guy had it all, the talent, the team, the coach, and the girl. Unfortunately his knee injury cost him what might have been with football and this top ten. I am sure he will make a fine coach for West Canaan though.

Top Ten Movies About Football - Quarterback Edition

If you haven't figured this one out, shame on you. Everybody in the world knows that if you have to line up for one game, this is the guy you want. Sure he has a past and he made some bad decisions, but the guilt alone of living with those decisions is with out a doubt, punishment enough.

#1 - Paul Crewe - "The Longest Yard" (1974)

After a spin around town in the Maserati, beer in hand mind you, Paul gets tracked down by the law and is sent to Pookie. All he wants to do is serve his time, pay his debt to society and move on. Well not in Warden Hazens prison. You see the Warden has a hard-on for his beloved guard staffed football team and he has an even bigger hard-on for Paul Crewe. He basically strong-arms Paul into forming a team of inmates to play against the before mentioned 'Guards' team in what will all likely be a complete beatdown. Well, Paul has had enough of lying down. He has already played the doormat with his point-shaving scheme that got him the boot from pro ball altogether. In what was a highly competitive first half of football, the Warden instructs him that he will be in Prison for a long time if he doesn't lay down. Well the Warden give him his word that the 'Mean Machine' will not be abused after the 'Guards' get up by a few scores. Of course the Warden renigs on his promise and is intent upon destroying the team physically and mentally. After soaking up the pine with a faux knee injury, Paul decides he has had enough of being the coward and taking it lying down. He rallies the team, but first he has to get there trust back. When he does, the 'Mean Machine' starts rolling and pull of the upset of the 'Guards'

Paul is the complete player. He is the exact opposite of Tim Tebow ethically and morally, but he more than rivals him physically and mentally. A great arm, great decision maker, amazing speed and probably the best improvisational QB to ever lace em' up. In addition, he is a great organizer and a scary judge of talent. He took an entire roster of prison inmates who had barely ever had a snap at any level of football and got them to buy into the team and believe in each other and eventually believe in him again.

Paul Crewe: Hey Pop, the time you hit Hazen in the mouth, was it worth 30 years?
Pop: For me it was.
Paul Crewe: Then give me my damn shoe!

Paul Crewe: Nate, if you're thinkin' about winning this game, you're as crazy as he is!
Nate Scarboro: Well maybe so, but you spend fourteen years in this tank, and you begin to understand that you've only got two things left they can't sweat out of you or beat out of you - your balls - and you better hang onto them because they're about the only thing you're gonna have when you get out of here.

Paul Crewe: You know what my problem has been all my life? I've always had my shit together. Always. My problem's been I couldn't lift it.

The Longest Yard (1974)
