HOUSTON NUTT DOES HIS BEST LANE KIFFIN IMPERSONATION

JEREMIAH MASOLI MUST CLEAR PROBATION HURDLE TO ENROLL AT MISSISSIPPI

So let me get this straight. First, you don't want him because of his off the field trouble, then a quarterback transfers leaving you with only 2 on scholarship, and now what he did was ok. Smoking the ganja, no problem. Burglary, who hasn't broken into a frat house and stole a laptop? I guess the one positive is that he passed his GRE so at least he can read. Stay classy Ole Miss.

SCRATCH THIS ONE OFF MY LIST OF MOVES

Apparently in Mississippi it is illegal to tell a woman you will marry her just so you can have sex with her.

97-29-55. Seduction of female over age of eighteen by promised or pretended marriage.

If any person shall obtain carnal knowledge of any woman, or female child, over the age of eighteen years, of previous chaste character, by virtue of any feigned or pretended marriage or any false or feigned promise of marriage, he shall, upon conviction, be imprisoned in the penitentiary not more than five years; but the testimony of the female seduced, alone, shall not be sufficient to warrant a conviction.

Wait, I'm safe, I just read this again and realized the girl has to be a virgin and we all know there's no virgins over 18 outside the state of Utah. Any of you ladies want to get married?

The Future of Late Night

Don't know if this guy is for hire and surely we got one floating around in this town with all its ecclectic personalities. This makes me think that this is the offspring of what would happen if Emmitt Brown from "Back to the Future" met "Itunes". One can only hope if and when one becomes a grandpa, that you are still rockin. Not sure about the playlist selection, but that is why he is the deejay.

The Blue Max

Way back in the day, this was the bike to have. If you were a kid in Greenwood in the 80's, you either had one, knew someone who had one, or you wanted one. I don't recall the cost of these beauties, but I do recall the day I got mine. Christmas 1988, there was no believe in Santa, but the folks did the routine of putting out gifts after we went to bed. It was a present that I had been asking for as they sold these machines at the nearby and long time defunct, 'Otasco'. I can recall going into the store and just staring at this bike and sitting on it, wishing and hoping that one day, I would have one. And it happened, on Christmas morning, and it was a moment of sheer exhilaration and joy. I put on warmups and went for a ride immediately. It was cold outside, but I could have cared less. I rode a few blocks north and a few blocks back just to get the feel of the machine. How it handled, the brakes, what kind of air I could get off a piece of clustered and broken sidewalk. I was sure to be among the cool kids at Bankston Elementary now with a bike of this caliber. Back in those days, if you didn't have a bike and your parents brought you to school, you were a bit of a "square". We rode in nearly any weather and we had numbers too, a good group of 4-5 of us rode everyday. We would meet at the corner of Park and Grand and continue on the next several blocks to school, ramping off anything we could find, while trying not to wreck with a backpack full of books. Good times indeed.

For as much as this bike was a source of joy in my life, it was also a source of pain. It was stolen from me. And I speak of this now because of the fact that bike theft is still alive in this community. It is an unfortunate reality of life sometimes, to be a victim of a crime, even though it is classified as non-violent, it sure feels violent. The family took a trip down to the beautiful sandy beaches of Ft. Walton Beach, FL during the summer a good year after owning the Blue Max. We took some precautions, as we would be abandoning our home for a week long trip some six hours south. We had the Blue Max chained up to metal post in the fenced in backyard. A safe option at the time, but considering the longevity of the Blue Max being unsupervised, not so much. In hindsight, we should have put it in the house, but this was the 80's and that type of forward thinking was not prevalent and it was just a bike. Albeit, it was my bike, and I loved it dearly, as it was something that I truly wanted and it brought me great pleasure cruising around with my posse, trying to catch some air. I didn't think of my bike on vacation, as I was to busy having fun. I didn't think of my bike until we got in the car to come home and all I could do then was hope that it would be there for me when I got home. I had big plans for the rest of the summer, us two, as we had many miles of asphalt to chew up with friends. As we continually got closer to home my anticipation grew stronger. This was pre-cellphone, so we couldn't just call a relative to go check it out, although they had done well by us and kept tabs on the home and business while we were away. As soon as we pulled into the driveway, I bolted from the car to go to my bike and ensure its safety, to say hello, to unchain it and take a spin. The hell with unloading the car, I needed two wheels and a set of pedals turning a chain on some broken asphalt. What I found was a cut chain in a pile, an absent bike, and heartbreak. I don't recall crying, but then again, I'm not a big cryer. I do recall staring, mouth gaped open in utter disbelief. What happened? How could this happen? Why did this happen? It was chained!! So many questions and no answers. This is not the life of a 12 year old kid! This was not supposed to happen! I couldn't believe it. I couldn't make a sound. I just turned around, walked back to the van, started grabbing luggage. What else was I to do? My life was at a standstill. I was on foot the rest of the summer or the cheesy ten speed. I passed the folks going into the house with a load of stuff as they were coming out to grab more stuff. They asked, " Is your bike back there?" All I could muster was, "It's gone". A true low point in the life of Crockett.

Simple Advice for lifes difficulties...

Just in case you are having a case of the "Thursday's" or someone at the office is pestering you. Maybe you didn't get chosen as an extra for the movie being filmed in town....this is what you do and you can tell em, "Crockett and Macarthur said it was ok.

Time for the Second Half

Well now that the All Star break is behind us and what an All Star week it was, with Big Papi putting on a show in the Home run derby and the National League finally winning an All Star game in over a decade. The ratings for the actual All Star game were low by there standards but it seemed to be a great game if you like pitching. Guess that's why many didn't watch, not much offense. As they say, chicks dig the long ball. Anywho, second half of the MLB season primed to get underway and there is a lot to look for. Out of the American League East, the Yanks hold a couple of games lead over the Rays with Boston not far behind. I see Boston making some noise and this being super competitive as it usually is down the stretch. Out of the AL Central, not much difference in the standings as the East. The ChiSox are in the lead with Detroit nipping at the heals and the Twins pushing into the fold as well. Certainly going to be interesting to see how that division unfolds. In the last 30 games up to the All Star break, the White Sox were 25-5...that is impressive. The AL West, you gotta think is the Rangers to lose. They added Cliff Lee, there bankrupt, they have a good offense and they have a 4.5 game lead. I just don't see the Angels overtaking them in that division.

Out of the National League, The Braves man, that's right, the Braves, in Bobby Cox's last stand have a 4 game lead over the NY Mets, with defending NL champs, Phillies at 4.5 games back. This is going to be a great division to keep an eye on and that shouldn't be a problem as most people around these parts support the Braves due to there proximity and the fact that growing up, that's all the baseball you got on TV. Personally, I hope the Braves win the division outright and hopefully the addition of Alex Gonzalez at shortstop will add that much needed pop in the middle to bottom part of the lineup they have been needing. In the NL Central, the Cincy Reds hold a 1 game lead over the Cardinals and I don't foresee that holding up. The Cards, I think have too much talent to let the division slip away from them. Besides, they got Pujols. Enough said. The NL West is a surprise as the Friars of San Diego have a slight edge over the Dodgers at the moment. Expect the Dodgers to make some noise and push that race to division champs alongside the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies are kinda the team I am hoping make a strong showing this second half. They aren't per se an underdog, but I just like there team and the balance they have between hitting and pitching.

Anyway, a whole lot can happen before the trade deadline at the end of July and there is a chance for maybe some moving around of mainstays. Caught a rumor or talk, that is, of Prince Fielder of the Brewers on the trading block, not sure about the certainty and not sure why they would unload him, but hey, you never know and I'm not a MLB GM. If you dig baseball or you just haven't been watching a great deal of it, now is the time. It is about to start heating up. We'll be back as the Wildcard race heats up. Crockett, Out.

"Killing Granola" - The Aftermath

A week had gone by and no physical evidence of the alleged guerrilla warfare fighter, Granola. The mental evidence was there, I knew he lingered in the cupboard. Not actually in the cupboard but in whatever crack he came out of to make his swift strikes against the snack pile. The supply chain of his favorite targets had been abolished, as did other potential targets. In the same manner in which Lincoln won the Civil war, I too was going to win this war. Take control of the supply lines and force the enemy to fight on your terms, your battlefield. Without the supplies of what was actually needed to fuel this monster, then alternate resources would have to be located. A place to refuel, rearm, and think things out is what Granola seeked and that is what Granola hunted. A quick, snatch and grab on a previously undiscovered bag of chocolates was one source of inspiration for Granola. It kept the fires burning, gave him hope that more of that sweet smelling chocolate would be available to take and conquer. The initial attacks were made on Chocolate chip Granola bars so it was a no-brainer and that taste and that smell is what kept him on the offensive all this time. Little did Granola know, that was bait. Bait to see if he was indeed still on the loose in this territory. Bait to feed him into thinking it was gonna be okay. It wasn't because he struck so quickly after the initial removal of previously mentioned supply lines. It was the setup of setups, and it worked. After the immediate disposal of all things Chocolate and whatever simply packaged consumables were available that might entice him into taking a bite, all that was left was traps. And traps we had plenty of in the target area. Traps of all sorts; snappers, twisters, glue boards all baited with that enticement, Chocolate chip granola bars. Clever rascal figured out the glue boards as evidence showed that he got on in an attempt to get that crunchy granola centerpiece, but evidence also showed that he got off. Hair and excrement left behind to let me know that he got away. Sort of a nice try..buddy. If the gloves weren't off before that point, they surely were now. That's when we used the bag of chocolates as bait and that is when Killing Granola came full circle, literally speaking. The twisters I speak of, are circular traps with a simple area to bait located on the bottom. You load it, twist the trap and it sets in place. When the unsuspecting vermin of the sort that is Granola himself goes inside, it triggers the trap and in a guillotine type manner, the assailant is subdued, decapitated, and defeated. Two twisters set in a locale that had been previously let be after an initial attack, four snappers dispersed evenly throughout the flow of the room and a couple of glue boards. Granola fell for the twisters, a pleasant little cave with the sweet smell that he yearned for as he was undoubtedly hunting. I knew it when I walked into the kitchen. It could only be one thing, the smell of death; the smell of victory; the smell of Granola. A worthy adversary who went to the well to many times.

Goodbye Boss

Say what you want about the Yankees organization, the Evil Empire, etc. They are without a doubt the team that most people love and that most people hate. For some 37 odd years George Steinbrenner was the spearhead of the organization. However, due to diminishing health he has not had an active role in the organization the past several years. George passed away July 13 from a heart attack. If you own a TV, you have already seen plenty on the subject.
With Steinbrenner at the helm, the Yankees were never short of theatrics and constantly firing managers, most notably his feuds with Billy Martin in the 70's, but he really deserves to be respected for what he did for baseball, the Yankees and New York in general. The Boss bought the Yankees for something like $10 million in 1973 and turned them into a franchise that today is worth something like $1.5 billion. He won 7 World Series titles, a host of games, divisions, and league championships and helped revolutionize the money making machine with his own network television program by selling the TV rights and eventually having his own cable channel. He made money, won, and made baseball more competitive through free agency. Not all players he pursued, signed with the Yankees, some used the Yankees as a bargaining chip to get more money from other clubs because they weren't too crazy about playing for a 'hands-on' owner like Stenibrenner. All that aside, he did good for the organization and always wanted to win. Much like Al Davis of the Raiders, but slightly more successful. Extremely competitive, yet equally caring. He was a good figure for baseball.

A little late...sorry

A yellow card, good form on the kick though

The Winning Goal

Viva La Spain.... Winners of the 2010 World Cup in a 1-0 decision over the Netherlands. Sure most of you didn't watch the match, but it was a pretty intense one. A record 14 yellow cards were handed out in the match with the Netherlands taking home like 12 of those. The goal came late in the second overtime period. At that point, a Dutch player who I forget his name, probably von erich or something, picked up his second Yellow, which is coincidentally a Red card and an exit from the playing field. Late in the match, a man down and Spain capitalizes on the opportunity. I really enjoyed watching the matches, wish the US would have made a little more noise in the Cup, but they have four years to get ready for the next one which will be held in Brazil. Can't wait. On a side note, Diego Forlan of Uruguay won the "Golden Ball", an honor given to the most prolific goal scorer of the tournament. The award could have gone to a host of individuals because there were 4 guys tied at 5 goals, but he got it and I think it was deserving. He was the pulse of that team and represented his country well. On a side note, he is also a good person, during a match, the announcers told a story of how Diego's sister is paralyzed and that he takes care of her and makes sure that she has the best medical assistance that she can. He obviously does this by his rather large pay he receives playing professionally in Spain. Good brother, good player, good person.

WTF OLE MISS

http://mascot.olemiss.edu/?page_id=244

I personally like the Rebel Blues Musician. This would be a great new mascot. This would totally get rid of that racist stigma. I have found the first two candidates below. They would fit in so well at Ole Miss.

GONE.

Doubt anyone cares, but it should be interesting as "The King" has decided to rip the barely beating heart out of Cleveland fans and head to Miami to play ball with Bosh and Wade. Here is a little of the reaction in case you are unable to watch sportscenter....
Gilbert, who has owned the Cavs for five years, said he was most disappointed by James' behavior in the months leading up to the superstar's announcement that he is going to Miami to play with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Gilbert said James never returned a single phone message or text since the end of the season and that the Cavs were not informed of James' decision until he went on the air.
Gilbert said Rich Paul, one of James' business partners, called the Cavs moments before the announcement.
"LeBron James needs to go to another team with two superstars already so he can win a championship," Gilbert said. "We will win a championship before [the Heat] do."
"It's not about him leaving," Gilbert said. "It's the disrespect. It's time for people to hold these athletes accountable for their actions. Is this the way you raise your children? I've been holding this all in for a long time."
Bitterness? Angry? Check! We'll see for sure if the so called prophecy by Cavs owner is correct. You can bet there is another side to this as well. The Heat will definately fill seats and they will definately be booed by fans and get the best games from there opponents. I didn't really watch a great deal of NBA before and that probably isn't gonna change because Jordan ain't playing. Jordan did it with Pippen, Paxson, Grant and Cartwright and later with Pippen, Kerr, Rodman, Kukoc, Harper, and Bill Wennington. Not exactly Chris Bosh and D-Wade. Well maybe Pippen.

REB'S PATTERSON DISMISSED FROM TEAM

Patrick Patterson blows last chance, dismissed from Ole Miss

Posted by John Taylor on July 7, 2010 8:56 AM ET

Back in January, Patrick Patterson was suspended by Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt and missed all of spring practice, prompting Nutt to say in March that the wide receiver knows it's his final chance to remain a part of the football program.

Last chance, meet blown.

Rivals.com's Ole Miss website is reporting that, according to multiple sources, Patterson has been dismissed from the program. The move comes a little less than two months after Nutt told reporters Patterson's suspension was close to being lifted.

It's unclear what specific action -- or inaction -- on Patterson's part prompted Nutt to now move for dismissal.

In addition to the spring practice suspension, Patterson was suspended for the Rebels' Oct. 17 game against UAB last season for violating unspecified team rules.

As a true freshman last season, Patterson caught 12 passes for 180 yards and a touchdown. He was the No. 1 player in the state of Mississippi last year, and rated as the No. 4 receiver in the country by Rivals.com.

COLEMAN GETS FIRST AAA WIN

With the score tied at 1, the New Orleans Zephyrs put their first two batters on base in the eighth inning against Omaha Royals reliever Louis Coleman on Wednesday at Zephyr Field. As he had done so often at LSU, Coleman pitched out of the jam.He retired the Zephyrs in order in the ninth, and the Royals scored in the 10th to take a 2-1 lead. When reliever Josh Rupe stranded a Zephyrs runner at third in the bottom of the inning, Coleman had his first Triple-A victory.

“Kept the ball down, got a couple of ground balls,’’ Coleman (1-0), who was making his third Triple-A appearance since being called up Friday from Double-A Northwest Arkansas, said of the eighth-inning situation. ”Good play by Kila (first baseman Kila Ka’aihue) helped me get out of it.’’

After Coleman allowed singles to Bryan Petersen and Gookie Dawkins to open the eighth, Neil Wilson tried to sacrifice. Ka’aihue fielded the bunt and threw to third for the out. Tim Torres grounded to first for the second out, and Coleman ended the threat by striking out Scott Cousins on an inside slider.

After giving up three runs in one inning Friday against Iowa his Triple-A debut, Coleman pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings Tuesday and Wednesday against the Zephyrs.

“He looked good again, ’’ Omaha pitching coach Doug Henry said. ”He’s got good stuff. He’s been throwing the ball well. He got a lot of confidence in Double-A. There’s no reason for him to change.’’
The Royals played small ball to score the decisive run.

Facing reliever Adalberto Mendez (3-2), Cody Clark led off the 10th with a bunt single, and Kurt Merkins pinch-ran. David Lough popped up a bunt. Third baseman Hector Luna, trying to get a double play, let the ball drop and threw to second for a force, but Lough beat the relay to first. Irving Falu singled, and Alex Gordon walked to load the bases. Ka’aihue hit a sacrifice fly to drive home Lough.

In the bottom of the 10th inning, New Orleans’ Bryan Petersen walked with one out, stole second and reached third when catcher Manny Pina threw the ball into center field. But Rupe struck out Gookie Dawkins and retired Wilson on a groundout.
The Zephyrs left 13 runners on base and were 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

“It was one of those days where either their pitcher made good pitches with guys in scoring position or we swung at bad pitches, ’’ New Orleans acting manager Greg Norton said. ”There was a situation where we couldn’t get someone to third on a bunt. Tough one. Positive spin — we split the series going to Iowa.’’

The Zephyrs jumped ahead against starter Luis Mendoza in the second. Dawkins hit a two-out double, driving home Petersen from first base.

Omaha tied the score at 1 in the fifth. Former Zephyr Jai Miller led off with a double to right, and Clark walked. After Lough sacrificed, Falu drove home Miller with a sacrifice fly.

Zephyrs starter Sean West, who allowed four hits and one run in seven innings, had his longest outing this season.

"Killing Granola"

It had been five years since my last encounter with them. I had thought that I had rid my life of that element, but they found me. A new location, a new part of the world, across town they did indeed arrive. How could this be? With the abundance of feline patrols constant in the area and the protection firmly set in place in the event that an encounter like this one should arise again. I had long felt that the examples that were made of there kind in the past set a precedent to which it was universally known to all of there species to avoid this man at all cost. There were many deaths, some swifter than others, but they had always died. Even when they won, they lost. The prize was always there for them and they always took it. This time, it’s different. It seems as though they have regrouped, retooled, preplanned and have gotten clever. The methods of mayhem in the past are no longer up to date with the standards of this world. Times change, people grow up and get lackadaisical, and the enemy gets smarter. Last time they were after anything they could score; peppermints, cigars, sunflower seeds, candles. Yes, candles. Surprised me too that wax would be something that they could feed off of or derive pleasure. They found the stash this time and it was too much for them to let go. They wanted more. The granola bars located in the bottom cabinet. The box was left open or shall I say, cracked and it must have an aroma with the sweet scent of chocolate chips in the air that proved unbearable to not dig right in. They hit the first box and there is no timetable to how long it had been since there offensive on the abode and its contents. They left evidence, waste that is, which alarmed me to there presence and swift action was put into effect to counter there offensives with an offensive of my own.

A day had passed, maybe a week, nothing. No signs, no action at the locales where travel had been observed, no evidence of a kill. A kill is what I have been known for when dealing with vermin of this sort and a kill is what I will get, regardless of the timetable. My first offensive had been counterattacked with an offensive of there own, grits this time. No telling how old the box was, but they were attracted to the smell of its contents as well. The box was closed, but that was merely a speedbump in there path. It’s like crack for them, once they get a taste of where the good stuff is, they always come back for more. They gnawed through the box, got happy with a package of the instant stuff in the cheese flavored variety. I disposed of there evidence and launched another brutal offensive with what they want in the first place, granola. If they get it this time, they have earned it and I will tip my cap to them and come back with an even stronger offensive. I have declared this critter to be named “Granola” since he has a penchant for the stuff. The war rages, there are a dozen traps set in the location where the attacks against my liberty and freedom were made. It is only a matter of time. Time to feed, time to get hungry, and once you realize that the favorable smell which brought you into this situation is there for the taking, it will be that same favorable smell that takes your life in this situation. It is just one, no other evidence for it to be more than one, but then again, one can cover a great deal of ground and destroy a plentiful assortment of snacks. This is not over; the assailant is still at large. It is hunted, much in the manner that it hunts for survival, it is hunted for death.

CAN ANYONE STOP THE MASTER RACE?

After dismantling England 4-1 the Germans have taken down powerhouse Argentina 4-0. The best part is that Thomas Muller scored the first goal in the 3rd minute for the Germans. Why you ask? Well a while back during a press conference Muller and Argentina coach Maradona were supposed to be at the podium together and Maradona refused because he said Muller looked like the ball boy. I'm guessing when he scored the goal today, Muller was thinking "I got your ball boy right here, bitch!" Anyway, I would have to say that the Germans are my pick to win it at this point. They aren't winning on lucky own goals or squeaking by teams that shouldn't have gotten this far anyway. They are spanking the top soccer powers in the world. On a side note, they are doing this with their top player and captain Michael Ballack sitting in the stands with an injury. Go Germany, warm beer for everyone.

ONE MORE STEP

If you were to look today on the NW Arkansas Naturals website for Louis Coleman's name you would not find it. Coleman has been called up to the AAA Omaha Royals. After blowing through A ball last year, Coleman started this year in AA and the result has been no different. So much so that the Royals thought he was ready for the move up. If Louis can have the same result in AAA, combined with the fact that the KC Royals are 11 games under .500, a September call up could be in the works. Only time will tell. To follow Coleman's progress you can go to the Omaha Royals website here...

Well, well...

If any of you actually read this or anything I post, I do apologize if you put your money on Brazil. In my last post regarding the World Cup, I stated that this was Brazil's tournament and that they would indeed beat the Netherlands. I was obviously wrong as the Brazilians lost on a goal scored by one of its on players, an unfortunate mistake. However, I did state at the end, that with all that I had said about Brazil, etc, etc, that the Netherlands would pull off the upset. That was not a prediction, that was an attempt to cover my @$$. Irregardless, it doesn't matter. Nobody, who reads this blog, really cares to read about The World Cup anyway and I am sure that many wonder why in world that I am still posting about this soccer tournament. Well, it is rather exciting considering that the world of soccer only plays this tournament every four years, so you inevitably get the best and unfortunately the worst out of the players involved. Take a look at France, who had all sorts of team problems with players and coaches. And lets not forget about Italy, who was a favorite to make some noise in the tournament but didn't get out of the Group stage. Italy won the last World Cup, four years ago. That is a long time to think about this, that and the other for the players representing there country. What if Pro Football didn't have a Super Bowl every year? Highly unlikely that would ever happen, but what if? By the time the next chance came around, some players may be past there prime, etc. That is the scenario in Soccer.

In addition, and I hope and pray nothing like this happens, but there is an ESPN movie from there "30 for 30" series entitled "The Two Escobars". The story line follows through the rise and fall of the Colombian soccer team and there amazing run to get into the 1994 World Cup, which was hosted by the USA. It also parallels the control of the famed Colombian Drug Lord, Pablo Escobar and how drug money basically controlled soccer in the country at that time and the manner in which Pablo took care of the poor of Columbia in a robin hood like fashion. Obviously, there were many deaths, this was Columbia during the height of the drug war. However, Pablo was an avid soccer fan. Even known to keep a small radio with him to listen to matches regardless of how closely he was being chased when he was being hunted. Crime and sport is the best way to describe this movie.

So, the Colombian team makes the World Cup and about the same time, Pablo's reign is coming to an end in the nation of Columbia and he is taken down. The scene from Pablo's funeral was incredible. Well, on the Colombian team there captain is a talented defender named Andres Escobar, no relation. In the World Cup, the Colombian team loses the first match and are met with a slew of threats from the new criminal empire forming in Colombia. The bookies took a big hit on the Colombian loss and there manner of justice is different from ours. In the second match of the group stage (first round) they are taking on the USA. This is a must win for the Colombian team and they feel confident because they had played the US in friendly matches on several occasions and won them all, but they don't win that day. The US prevails largely in part to a mistake made by Captain, Andres Escobar. Andres was trying to deflect an errant US goal attempt and the goalie got way out of position and the ball rolled into the net. Back home, a slew of threats ensue and all players are fitted with bodyguards and they are desperately concerned for there lives. Andres makes a venture out one evening because he wants to show his face, he wants to in some way, start the healing. He knows what he has done, but it was a mistake and he really wants the people to accept that he had made a mistake. Unfortunately, his mistake cost him his life. The same group of people that had a significant role in the ousting of one time drug lord Pablo Escobar, also took it upon themselves to deal justice on Andres Escobar following an argument outside a local club. It was and is a sad ending to any a movie that I have ever seen because it actually happened. It was a real account. It is a good movie because the inspiration that the Colombian team gave to a nation that was ripped apart by violence, corruption and crime. It just had a very sad and unfortunate finish. I really do hope that type of action no longer has a place in this world. I know things are different outside of this Country and things are different in this Country, but a mistake is a mistake and there is no need to resort to violence to solve the matter. It only makes it worse.

Happy Friday!!

100 Greatest movie insults...NSFW language

I'm sure we've all been in a situation where we needed a quick rebuttal to an otherwise chastising remark made in our direction. Maybe it happened last week, maybe it was middle school, but we just couldn't come up with anything that would really drive the message home, that we (you, me or whoever)are ticked off and would like for you (whoever) to know this is really what we are thinking of you and your juvenile attempts to indifferent my life with your words, your harsh language. Well, this should give you a start, plus many of them come from classic movies, just never really thought about them in the insult light, mostly thought it was for the sake of comedy. Oh well...

World Cup - Elite Eight

Well its been a while since we put anything up on the matter and to be honest it is just not the same without the good ole USA still playing. Tough defeat, seems Ghana has our number. Anywho, still soccer to be played and this is really the cream of the crop, minus Portugal. July 2, well today, the action kicks off with Brazil vs. Netherlands in the a.m. slot and Uruguay and Ghana taking to the field of play in the early afternoon contest. I think Brazil and Uruguay win these with relative ease. And I, along with probably a good many others, like Brazil over Uruguay in the semis to advance to yet another final.

On July 3, the plot thickens with Argentina, led by potentially insane coach and world cup legend Diego Maradona, taking on Germany. Germany has been a different team after there loss in game two of the group stage to Serbia. Obviously, they were good coming into the tournament, but they have stepped it up a dial as far as aggressiveness and attacking and defense. Haven't been blowing people out, just playing lights out. Not to mention they have one of the most prolific scorers in the tournament Miroslav Klose. Argentina is no slouch with there star, Lionel Messi. This guy is pretty exciting to watch and I recommend that you do just that. Maybe, not get real hammered Friday night...., just a little Friday night and get up and watch this one. It should be a good one. In the other contest of Saturday, afternoon that is, Paraguay and Spain square off. Spain all the way and its not close. If Germany beats Argentina, I like Germany over Spain, but if Argentina wins, I like Spain over Argentina. Sounds a little tricky, but Germany, I feel is a better team than Argentina and they wouldn't have to exhaust as much energy to win as Argentina would to have to beat the German squad. Just my standpoint, could be wrong, probably will be, doesn't matter who makes it to the finals against Brazil, it is another cup for the country of Brazil. With that being said, the Netherlands will pull off the upset.

Look alive out there...

You gotta be on your toes at the ballpark...come on dude. You can't start trading on the Asian market for a couple of hours so you can't be talking business. Plus, you are at a ballgame, watch the ballgame. I say this guy deserved to take one to the face for not paying attention. I do like the nonchalant manner in which the play by play guy just says, "He was talking on the phone". That's good broadcasting.
