The Winning Goal
Viva La Spain.... Winners of the 2010 World Cup in a 1-0 decision over the Netherlands. Sure most of you didn't watch the match, but it was a pretty intense one. A record 14 yellow cards were handed out in the match with the Netherlands taking home like 12 of those. The goal came late in the second overtime period. At that point, a Dutch player who I forget his name, probably von erich or something, picked up his second Yellow, which is coincidentally a Red card and an exit from the playing field. Late in the match, a man down and Spain capitalizes on the opportunity. I really enjoyed watching the matches, wish the US would have made a little more noise in the Cup, but they have four years to get ready for the next one which will be held in Brazil. Can't wait. On a side note, Diego Forlan of Uruguay won the "Golden Ball", an honor given to the most prolific goal scorer of the tournament. The award could have gone to a host of individuals because there were 4 guys tied at 5 goals, but he got it and I think it was deserving. He was the pulse of that team and represented his country well. On a side note, he is also a good person, during a match, the announcers told a story of how Diego's sister is paralyzed and that he takes care of her and makes sure that she has the best medical assistance that she can. He obviously does this by his rather large pay he receives playing professionally in Spain. Good brother, good player, good person.
