G.O.A.T

Mariano Rivera recorded his 600th career save last night which puts him in second place behind Trevor Hoffman who has 601 career saves. In my opinion he is the greatest closer of all time and I am sure he will eclipse Hoffmans mark before seasons end and stand alone in first place. Honestly, the guy probably has a few more good years left in him so there in no telling will his career mark will end up.

I got to watch the last out live after work and it was an interesting way for a game to end. With 2 outs in the 9th and Ichiro on first, Catcher Russell Martin throws out Ichiro trying to steal to end the game. Gotta respect the guts of Ichiro to try to get up into scoring position in a 1 run game, but nonetheless, it backfired, game over...#600.

Interstingly enough, in 17 seasons Rivera has posted an ERA of 2.22, while averaging 39 saves a year. And he is even better in the postseason where his ERA is under 1.00 and he has 42 postseason saves. You wanna know why the Yankees are successful, you need not look any further than MO!! To steal a quote from Brett "The Hitman" Hart.... Rivera is the Best there is, The Best there was, and The Best there ever will be!! Hands down.
