Ole Miss vs Georgia

•Ole Miss is looking to even its record to 2-2 on the season ... The Rebels started 1-2 last season before knocking off Fresno State to even their record at 2-2 on the year ... Ole Miss has not started a season 1-3 since opening the 2007 season 1-4 ... The Rebels boast an all-time record of 620-478-35 (.563 winning percentage) in 117 years of football.
•This meeting will be the 44th all-time between Ole Miss and Georgia, dating back to 1940, with UGA owning a 30-12-1 lead ... The Bulldogs hold an 9-5 advantage in Oxford ... The Bulldogs have taken eight straight in the series ... Ole Miss and Georgia played annually from 1966-2002, and the Bulldogs posted a 27-10-1 mark against Ole Miss during that span.
•The Rebels are looking to even their SEC mark at 1-1 on the year ... Ole Miss has not opened a season with consecutive league losses since 2007.
•Ole Miss is seeking to snap a six-game skid in SEC home openers ... The Rebels’ last league home opening victory was a 26-23 win over Vanderbilt in 2004 ... Before dropping six-straight conference home openers, the Rebels won four in a row from 2001-04.
•This game marks head coach Houston Nutt’s first meeting with UGA at Ole Miss ... Nutt was winlesss versus the Bulldogs in five meeting at Arkansas including a loss in the 2002 SEC Championship Game.
Just a few tidbits about this weeks opponent. Nothing special. Crockett will be in attendence for this one. Got a date with the old lady. Should be a fun time regardless of the outcome. Not expecting much, thats the motto apparently. Obviously would be thrilled with a victory. I get the sense that this game is a "Hot Seat" game. Obviously after getting drug through the mud against Vandy last week there are many who are fed up with Nutt. My question to you is, who else is going to coach? I beg your pardon, but the Rebel program isn't exactly one of the most sought after jobs out there. Just saying, give the guy a little time. He has obviously done a better than bad job of recruiting and there are young and inexperienced guys on the field. These things take time to mold together. As for Georgia, I don't think they are pleased with Richt over the past two seasons. If the Rebs beat Georgia in any way, shape or form of convincing fashion, they may fire Richt in the locker room after the game. I doubt that happens, but you get the idea. Hopefully the Rebs can "Do Work" on Saturday. It would certainly make my weekend better.

THIS SERIES IS GETTING OUT OF HAND

12 wins over MSU in a row and 19-1 in the last 20 games. You may own the state of MS, but that's all you own. All of you out there saying that the LSU D is sick but the offense needs to get better obviously don't follow LSU football. When Les Miles dreams at night about football, last night would be his wet dream. MS State did exactly what Les wanted them to do. Try to go toe to toe with them. Les knows if you try this, you will hang around for a while but you don't have the horses to do it for 4 quarters. Dominating D, solid special teams and an offense who pounds the D for 3 quarters wearing them down so they can win it in the 4th. Throw in a QB who just manages the game by dinking and dunking with the occasional deep ball thrown in and it's just what Les is looking for. This offense doesn't need help, they executed the game plan perfectly. When LSU needs to score more points to win, you will see them open it up a little and score more. It's 2007 all over again. The defense was dominant and Matt Flynn just handed it off, managed the game and threw it around when he needed to.

P.S. Mullen is 2-10 vs the SEC west. Just saying.

Ole Miss vs Vandy Preview

The Rebs hit the Road to open SEC play this year and are in dire need of a Victory. No guarantees on this one as I said in a previous post, Vandy gives the Rebs fits. The game will be televised on your SEC Network provider, so if you are a DirecTV subscriber... that is channel 30. Personally looking forward to watching this game and see how the Rebels have progressed in the 3rd week of the 2011 campaign. Based on the info below, its not encouraging playing Vandy. Anyhoo, heres to hoping for putting up a W in the good column.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR ...
•Ole Miss is looking to improve its record to 2-1 on the season ... The Rebels started 1-2 last season and last started a year 2-1 in 2009 after knocking off Memphis and Southeastern Louisiana before falling to South Carolina ... The Rebels boast an all-time record of 620-477-35 (.563 winning percentage) in 117 years of football.
•This game will be the 86th meeting between Ole Miss and Vanderbilt dating back to 1894 ... The Rebels lead the series 47-36-2 and have won 13 of the last 18 meetings since 1992 ... Ole Miss leads 47-18-2 in SEC games versus VU. Vanderbilt won the first 19 games in the series, with Ole Miss having won 47 of the last 66 games played between the two teams.
•The Rebels trails the Commodores 26-21-2 in games played in Nashville, but have won nine of the last 12 in the Music City including a 23-7 win in 2009 ... Ole Miss dropped the first 17 in a row to Vanderbilt in Nashville from 1894-1938.
•The Rebels are kicking off league play with Vanderbilt for the seventh time in the last nine seasons.
•Ole Miss is opening SEC play on the road for the seventh time since 2003.
•The Rebels are seeking to snap a seven-game skid in SEC openers ... Ole Miss is 30-44-3 in SEC openers ... The last league-opening win came in 2003 in Nashville, a 24-21 victory over the Commodores ... The Rebels are just 2-16 in their last 18 conference openers.

G.O.A.T

Mariano Rivera recorded his 600th career save last night which puts him in second place behind Trevor Hoffman who has 601 career saves. In my opinion he is the greatest closer of all time and I am sure he will eclipse Hoffmans mark before seasons end and stand alone in first place. Honestly, the guy probably has a few more good years left in him so there in no telling will his career mark will end up.

I got to watch the last out live after work and it was an interesting way for a game to end. With 2 outs in the 9th and Ichiro on first, Catcher Russell Martin throws out Ichiro trying to steal to end the game. Gotta respect the guts of Ichiro to try to get up into scoring position in a 1 run game, but nonetheless, it backfired, game over...#600.

Interstingly enough, in 17 seasons Rivera has posted an ERA of 2.22, while averaging 39 saves a year. And he is even better in the postseason where his ERA is under 1.00 and he has 42 postseason saves. You wanna know why the Yankees are successful, you need not look any further than MO!! To steal a quote from Brett "The Hitman" Hart.... Rivera is the Best there is, The Best there was, and The Best there ever will be!! Hands down.

Thoughts on Football...

Sometimes when I'm watching a game I constantly I am reminded of this because of what I see on the field. It happens during NFL contest, but mostly when I watch the Rebels. You really can't put it into any better words or a phrase better than this and who better to deliver the address then one of the greatest coaching figures in the history of football...

.....Well said Vince, Well Said...

Thought to ponder....

Memphis got beat by 40+ at the hands of Arkansas State and BYU almost beat Texas.. Sure Texas is down this year where in years past they have been the Cream of the Crop in there conference......

My take on this, and there is still a long way to go in the season, but BYU is actually pretty good and Memphis is obviously terrible. So maybe there is hope for the Rebel team after losing a game they should have won and were a underdog in at home. And maybe, State has more kinks to work out than the run of the mill fan thinks. I dunno, we'll have to wait and see. Like I said, its a long season.

Weekend recap... thus far

I reckon a win is a win...right? Sure would have loved a blowout, but oh well. No biggie. Jeff Scott had a big day and it was nice for him to be able to pad his season stats in one game. Gonna be a long season but the Rebs may shock some team. Who knows at this point. Not a whole lot of expectations for the season, unlike another Mississippi school that laid an egg on the Plains. Honestly was shocked at the game from the get-go. Different Auburn team that played against MSU this weekend then the one that almost got beat against Utah State. Seriously, one play here or there in both those games and Auburn is 0-2. As for the Bullpups it was obviously now in hindsight a bad call to run the ball. However, and this is just a guess, Mullen was probably thinking we've pretty much run the ball on them for the better part of the game...more specifically the last two drives in the final 7 or so minutes. What the heck, lets go for it all. Turns out it was the wrong decision. Give Auburn credit for the stand at the goalline.

It doesn't get any easier for both schools here in the home state.. Dogs vs Mac's Tigers in Starkville. I'm sure the place will be crazy but that won't matter. LSU is pretty damn good. That's right, I said it... they are good. To much speed and LSU wins a easy one 56-7. For the Rebs, a trip to Nashville to play Vandy. Kinda like to pencil this one in as a Win, but for some unexplainable reason Vandy always gives the Rebs everything and more. I still like the Rebs to win the game, but it'll be a classic crapfest and the score will probably be like 21-20 or something real close like that. And Vandy could win the game just as easy as the Rebs could.

On a sidenote, the fantasy football season is not off to a good start for ole Crockett. Pretty sure we are going to lose games in all three leagues. Been a pretty wild opening weekend. Falcons getting blown out!! Really?!! And the Steelers got spanked. If this keeps up, its gonna take a Saturday Night Miracle to make any noise on the Fantasy Football front this season. And yes, there is money involved on all three leagues. Gotta find this years Peyton Hillis. Anyhoo, Mac's team is dominating, so I am sure he is pleased about that.

The Final drive of MSU/Auburn...

HO HUM...

A nice little scrimmage before heading to Starkville.

Some observations from the game...
1. This defense is sick. Follow up the Oregon game by giving up -4 yards rushing and 95 total yards
2. Michael Ford is a better pure runner than Spencer Ware.
3. Mettenberger is going to be a star. Won't be surprised if he is getting significant snaps down the road this year.

SERIOUSLY STATE?

You just got CHIZZED. As much as it pains me to say because I absolutely despise Auburn University and their entire coaching staff. Dan Mullen was out coached. No other way to look at it. Being cocky, and beating "The school up north" will only get you so far. Eventually you gotta beat someone else. 2-9 vs SEC West teams isn't going to cut it. Better put this one behind you or Thursday night will get ugly. The defense better grow up fast because if you think you're going to score 40 against LSU you are sadly mistaken. Just ask Oregon.

Something to brighten your day Ole Miss fans

You can't watch this and not cheer up. Two bros, old and young, having the time of their lives.

- Watch more Videos at Vodpod.

Another Les Miles Moment

In case you missed it, before the game started as the team is coming out of the tunnel, old Les gets a little confused to which sideline he's supposed to be going to. Watch the whole video and keep your eye on Miles. He is in front of the team and breaks left before he gets run over, and then he keeps going left. Although as goofy as he is, you can't say he doesn't get his team up for big games especially in the face of adversity. Katrina, Gustav, and now bar fights.

Ole Miss Pep Talk..

Coach Wally Riggendorf from dr-nix on Vimeo.

Yeah well, we blew that game. However, give BYU credit for continuing to play football and get after it. There is no quit in those Cougars and that is evident by the fact that they won a game they shouldn't have despite being favored. I will leave the second guessing to the sports writers, etc.. Although, I will say from the very first play I was concerned. Anytime you have a big, veteran offensive line and a running back that's probably in the top ten in the SEC and you don't feed him the pill, then I have got to question the play call. End around on the first play of the game... WTF?!? Obviously now that doesn't matter as Bolden got injured and is likely done for the year. They say six weeks but its a fractured ankle. Really don't see him being a factor moving forward. In addition to our lack of an effective, clock and yard chewing running game, the dropped pass was huge. Not gonna rag on the guy, I expect that Brassel will make plenty of plays over his career to outnumber that one. Besides, kid was playing High School ball this time last year. Overall, the D didn't do that bad of a job. They still gotta improve but that it apparently the least of the worries at this point. It seems we are... how would you put it.... Same season, different quarterback problem. Stoudt looked good with the exception of the fumble that ultimately resulted in defeat. But I personally feel he shouldn't have been put in that position considering his limited to zero experience. Brunetti, unfortunately didn't get much of chance and did little with the chances he got. I wish I would have been able to see the whole game, but work supersedes recreational football watching. With that being said, it will be interesting to see where Mackey fits into this dilemma.

As I stated in a previous post, I thought the Rebs were going to be a .500 ballclub at the very best this season. However, I counted this past game towards that mark and now it seems we are in the same ship as last season and are headed for another 4-8 unless things change drastically. I hope they do and I will not fade in my support of the home team, but I will call it like I see it and if you don't like it... don't read it. Read up on some of Mac's Ole Miss Hate messages. That should keep you entertained.

Oldie..

Cracks me up everytime! Such a soft side for probably the best fighter pound for pound.

Almost Football time!!!

Well we are back, and just in time, as football season draws a little bit closer. I for one am excited about the upcoming season. We have little to zero expectations going into this season and that suites me just fine. Maybe we can make some noise this year and win a game or two that we aren't supposed to. I'm not betting on it but I certainly hope that is the case. The rebs will field a young and somewhat inexperienced team in several key positions, and once again, we will breaking in a new QB. My only hope is that from the start our seemingly hyped O-line can pave the way for Bolden to churn out yards, first downs, and touchdowns while the new signal caller is getting acclimated to scrambling for his life. The D is, as always, gonna be the key. We need an increased performance from our secondary, as well as our young front seven to grow up in a hurry. To start it off against BYU sounds like a game we win, but don't get ahead of yourself. BYU is no slouch. They are no Jacksonville State, who we lost to in OT and basically put a sour taste in the mouth for the rest of the year. Rebs gotta set the tone early against the Mormons and continue to take it to them all game. Hopefully the heat will be a factor, as the BYU is not accustomed to the sweltering heat in this region of the country. I think we got a legit shot at being 3-1 in September and it would be just outstanding to split October. A tough roadtrip out West to Fresno and three conference games will not be an easy hill to climb. I have already penciled in Bama a loss, but maybe we beat Auburn? We always play them tough on the road and of course Arkansas at home is huge due to the past coaching relationship with Nutt.
So lets say hypothetically, we are 5-3 rolling into November and we start with KY and La Tech.... not pushovers, but at this point in the season, maybe we've found a little groove and we steal em both and we get to bowl eligible with two to play. That would delite many, including myself and it would be great to win at least one of the two between LSU and the hated State, but I don't foresee that happening. However, with that being said, we'll probably beat State because they are supposed to be good this year and as we all know, we are supposed to suck.
I could live with a winning season and have something to build on going into the next year and the recruiting season. I mean, we did throw together a pretty solid recruiting class following a 4-8 season... so the sky is the limit here. But in all seriousness, I think we are a .500 ballclub at best and obviously I haven't seen a snap yet. I'm gonna set my expectations as that so maybe the pain won't be as bad if we lay an egg all year and are terrible. It all stems the years of pain that a Rebel fan encounters. If you aren't one, you don't know. Well you have an idea if you are a State fan, you've been there as well. State fans should be on there knees every night praying the Dan Mullens doesn't leave for greener pastures elsewhere. The guy has done a terrific job with that program and now it times to see what kind of job Nutt can really do with his players. We got spoiled with back-to-back Cotton Bowl triumphs in the front end of the Nutt regime using Orgeron players. Guy couldn't coach, but he could recruit. So, as I said earlier, the tome has got to be set against BYU. Here is the schedule. Print it out, whatever. I looked forward to this rant to continue.

Shaq's Retirement Speech

Hands down, the best retirement speech you may ever here. Hard to beat shaq when it comes to personality. The guy is a hoot and lets not forget that, for while, he was one of the most dominant centers in the game of basketball. He couldn't hit a free throw to save his life, but he was a force in the paint. There will probably never be another like him, especially when it comes to personality.

Happy Memorial Day

GO thank a veteran and enjoy your freedom today.

Louis Coleman update

Been a solid go for the rookie this far. Sure he got saddled with a couple of losses last week but he has done well for himself and for the ballclub despite the Royals battling through some losing streaks. On the season, Louis has piched in 16.2 innings with an era of 2.16, scattered 9 hits while striking out 19. He has walked 10 batters, but 3 were intentional. Hopefully this recent win by the ballclub can get them back on track and on to some winning ways. In addition, maybe Louis will get some opportunities to help the ballclub win these games by doing that voodoo that he does. We'll keep you posted as the season progresses.

Heat vs Mavs

Pick your poison here in what will probably be a great Finals. After last season and "The Decision", which was fairly pretentious, you either love LeBron or you hate him. Probably the same can be said for D-Wade and Bosh as well. Either way, I think, as a whole, peeps like Dirk and they probably view him and the Mavs as underdogs. I'm sure the Mavs don't mind that role because the pressure is essentially on the Heat and there 3 headed monster. Personally I am torn on who to pull for because a part of me wants Dirk to get him a ring, but there is this other part that loves dominance and for LeBron to win a ring this year, I think it would only put thinkgs in motion for future dominance. Like Bulls multiple Three-peat dominance in the Jordan era. Just move Bitch, get out the way ya know. Anyhoo, we like the Heat in 6 and we will not address, nor dignify Scottie Pippens assessment that LeBron is better than Jordan. When he gets to 6 titles, then we'll talk. Until then, its ignorant to even suggest the idea.

The Macho Man- Randy Savage- OH YEAH!!!

I know I haven't posted in a good long while and this blog is essentially a fish out of water, just gasping for its last breath of air before dying and I hate that this is my first post in a while. But, The Macho Man Randy Savage has passed away. This is tragic for any little kid growing up in the 80's that looked forward to Saturday morning wrestling and eventually Monday nights. The Macho Man was one of the good guys back in those days. He wasn't a Razor Ramon turncoat MF'r. He ran with the Hulkster and together they were stars. He even won a couple of WWF Titles. He was no slouch. Besides, he had the Lovely, Miss Elizabeth in his corner. Sure, she couldn't pull you out of a jam like Bobby "The Brain" Heenan or Jimmy "Mouth of the South" Hart, but she really was the first piece of eye candy in a male dominated "sport" and has to be a pioneer for all these women that are commonplace in Wrastlin' nowadays. I haven't watched Wrestling in a while, its just not my bag anymore, but I did used to cheer for this guy. The apparent cause of death was car accident that occured after an apparent heart attack. The Macho Man was 58 years old and one can imagine that is a ripe old age considering the profession he was in for many years and god knows what kind of uppers, downers and in-betweeners he took to sustain himself in peak condition to hit the mat for all those years. Most people will probably remember him for "snapping into a slim jim" and rightfully so, he was the face and spokesperson for there campaign for many years and did his duties well. Couldn't have been to hard, he just played himself. Anyway, farewell Macho Man

SEAL TEAM 6

The military team that killed Osama Bin Laden is an elite special forces group unofficially called Seal Team 6.
Officially, the team's name is classified and not available to the public, technically there is no team 6. A Tier-One counter-terrorism force similar to the Army's elusive Delta group, Team 6's mission rarely make it to paper much less the newspaper.
It shows how important the publicity about Bin Laden's killing is to the U.S. that this morning, Team 6 is front pages news.
The members of Team 6 are all "black" operatives. They exist outside military protocol, engage in operations that are at the highest level of classification and often outside the boundaries of international law. To maintain plausible deniability in case they are caught, records of black operations are rarely, if ever, kept.
The development of SEAL Team 6 was in direct response to the 1980 attempt to rescue the American hostages held in Iran. The mission was a terrific failure that fell apart at many points and illustrated the need for a dedicated counter-terrorist team capable of operating with the utmost secrecy.
The Team was labeled 6 at the time to confuse Soviet intelligence about the number of SEAL teams in operation at the time. There were only two others.
Team 6 poached the top operatives from other SEAL units and trained them even more intensely from there. Even among proven SEAL's the attrition rate for Team 6 is reported to be nearly half.
There are no names available for current Team 6 members, but the CIA does recruit heavily from their numbers for their Special Operations Group, so it makes sense that they were chosen to work with the CIA on this mission.
Team 6 is normally devoted to missions with maritime authority: ship rescues, oil rigs, naval bases or land bases accessible by water. There are no waterways near Bin Laden's compound.
When a former Navy SEAL was called for a comment about this article all he could say was: "You know I'd love to help you man, but I can't say a word about Team 6. There is no Team 6."

Coleman Gets the "Call"!!!

Coleman has scoreless big league debut

KANSAS CITY -- Royals manager Ned Yost wasted no time getting rookie Louis Coleman his first exposure to the big leagues. Just hours after his arrival, Coleman was brought in to pitch against Cleveland, relieving Sean O'Sullivan after a leadoff single in the Indians' seventh.

That was Yost's plan -- get through at least six innings with O'Sullivan, then go to Coleman, Aaron Crow and, if necessary, Joakim Soria. As it turned out, Soria was not needed because Coleman notched two shutout innings and Crow worked a scoreless ninth to get credit for the 3-2 victory.

"Both those kids came in banging strikes," Yost said. "That's key. If you're coming in late in key games, you've got to bang strikes."

Coleman, right in character with his Minor League strikeout credentials (16 in seven innings), struck out the first batter he faced, Adam Everett. He retired three batters in the seventh. In the eighth, he gave up two hits but got help when center fielder Melky Cabrera threw out a runner at the plate.

The ecstatic Coleman was oblivious to the weather conditions -- rain and temperatures around 50 degrees -- in his Major League debut.

"You always think of a sunny day, the wind blowing in, just perfect conditions," Coleman said. "But today it was raining, you had to make do. Still, it didn't feel like it was raining or that it was cold. It was a blast and everything I thought it would be. Like everybody says, it was a dream come true."

A walk-off victory made it even sweeter.

Yost was impressed by his latest rookie reliever.

"We got a real good view of him in Spring Training of how good he is, and he showed it again tonight in his Major League debut," Yost said. "No butterflies, just came in on the attack."

Thats right MLB...."on the attack"... What an outstanding job and debut. This blog, as well as the rest of the community, could not be happier for the Louis. SO excited for him and look forward to following his progress, the ups and whatever downs come his way. But we are all routing for his continued success.

MILITARY HEALTH CARE AT IT'S FINEST

So I hear all the time about how great it is to be in the military because of free health care. Free, yes, competent, no. Here's a nice example of how great military health care is. Have your shoulder pop diving for a ball in a softball game. You can't move your arm, you are in agonizing pain and it's turning purple and green. Go to the emergency room and have them take x-rays. A doctor comes in and tells you that you have fractured your shoulder and you need an MRI to see if there is any ligament or tendon damage because you might need surgery. Then have them tell you that the earliest they can see you is 3 weeks from now, but here are some pills and a sling while you wait. Now go back to work. I guess you get what you pay for. Here is a pic to show I am not making up this injury.

Teach Me How to Jimmer..

Seriously....this has got to be the end result of mixing Larry Bird's and Jimmy Chitwood's DNA.

Bracket Time....

Honestly, after last year, I literally hate missing a game that Gus Johnson calls in the NCAA tournament. The guy just has an amazing enthusiasm and repertoire of catch phrases to boot. I know this video is a good week old and if you own a computer then you have seen it by now. And yes it is the PAC-10 conference championship that nobody really cares about, but it is just a prime example and a small dose of what lies ahead in the coming weeks as the "Big Dance" gets underway. I am not by any stretch of the imagination a hardcore hoops fan, but I love the tournament and NBA playoffs and honestly, Gus keeps it real.

Overheard at the Grocery

So I am in line at the downtown 'Big Star' and this older black lady was behind me with a basket full of lotta stuff. This younger black male is walking up from my left. I notice him out of the corner of my eye but didn't look over. The next thing I know I hear the voice of the older black lady speak up to the younger black male and she said, "If you cut line, I'm cuttin Yo Ass". Honest to god. Literally the whole line, cashier and manager fell out laughing. Really Priceless

MY NEW THEME SONG

I don't know how old this song is but it's new to me. I'm claiming it as my new theme song. Everyone needs to bump this shit every time I make an entrance somewhere to announce my presence with authority.

HIGHER EDUCATION INDEED!

Maybe old Rudy should open up a dictionary before putting up signs in the bookstore. Surely there is one in there. This pretty much sums up my tenure at this university. If you don't see anything wrong with this sign then I bet they are hiring and would love to have you.

Post football blues cure?

For those of you that are about to leap off a building or just fall on a knife..Don't!! You don't have to go out like that. All you need is NFL network and there series, "Sound FX". Yeah sure, you'd be watching a bunch of old games and its not as fun because you can't bet on them. Bet on something else, Basketball or Hockey or Horse racing. This is a little different feel because the players are wired and you get that interpersonal insight that you miss just watching the game routing for some team to cover. They had a marathon on the other day and its quality, just quality I tell you. Lots of funny stuff happens that you'd regularly not see. so with that being said, check it out and don't worrry.... Baseball is right around the corner and maybe the NFL will reach an agreement on the labor issues.

Why No Superbowl Post?

I was asked this question the other day and to be perfectly honest with you, the day after the big game was one of recovery. You see Crockett here tied on what they call a "good drunk". No lie. Before the game started I got involved in a game of ladderball with some peeps and I had a rather uneasy feeling before the contest started when one of our opponents said, "Is the Shotgun rule in effect?"..... Well naturally, I knew what this meant as an end result, but was not certain as to how to attain it. Turns out, in ladderball if you score on all three of your designated throws, the other team has to shotgun a beer. Fair enough right. I mean what are the odds of someone, who has been consuming at a regular pace for a few hours achieving this monumental task. Well it turns out, three times to be exact. Now, I don't exactly consume the lightest beer on the market. However, I did borrow a lighter variety on 2 of my 3 shotguns. The third I took it on home with "The King", which is the beer of choice for Crockett. Needless to say, this had a impact on the level of drunkenness that I initially thought I was to keep myself at, a gentle roar. Not after this, no way. The train had left the station after this. I behaved from what I recall, but I don't recall anything from the designated party place to McDonald's. I drove over the limit, not a brilliant decision, but since it was the Superbowl and I had been gambling on the game.....I figured I'd gamble all the way home. That damn double cheeseburger was unreal and those fries in all there salty goodness. It was fantastic. And while I didn't hit a single damn square out of nine of them, I'd say it was a success. And I thought the game was pretty good as well.

Happy V-Day!!

PROPOSED TAG HONORS KKK LEADER

JACKSON — A fight is brewing in Mississippi over a proposal to issue specialty license plates honoring Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest, who was an early leader of the Ku Klux Klan.
The Mississippi Division of Sons of Confederate Veterans wants to sponsor a series of state-issued license plates to mark the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, which it calls the “War Between the States.” The group proposes a different design each year between now and 2015, with Forrest slated for 2014.

You've got to be shitting me right? Can Mississippi please enter the fucking 21st century? Not letting go of Colonel Reb. KKK license plates. This shit is fucking embarrassing.

Pac still causing trouble...

Can't even rest in piece around here anymore. I guess thats the price of being a gangster. Everybody is all up in your business, even after you've been dead.

If the Pac-12 wants its domain name, it has to go through Tupac

Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott comes across as a fairly visionary guy. Immediately upon assuming the title last year, he was talking about marketing the conference to Japan, went after the entire Big 12 South in an effort to expand membership to 16 teams, eventually added Colorado and Utah to transform the league into the Pac-12 and still plans to start the Pac-12 Network. But even with his farsighted track record, I can almost guarantee Larry Scott did not foresee a legal fight involving Tupac Shakur on the horizon.

But here we are. In its ongoing branding effort in the transition from the "Pac-10" to the "Pac-12," the conference filed a claim* last week with the World Intellectual Property Organization for rights to the domain name "pac12.com," which currently features – what else? – an Amazon.com widget offering visitors "A 12Pac from Tupac," a collection of MP3 downloads of a dozen albums by the dead rapper. The page title: "Tupac Lives!"

For the record, you can get to the league's current site, Pac-10.org, by typing in "Pac-10.com," but not "Pac10.org" or "Pac10.com," which redirect to a generic placeholder site despite the fact that the Pac-10 actually owns both. The URLs "Pac-12.com," "Pac-12.org" and "Pac12.org" are all registered to Bet-R Sites, LLC (host to the sublime Quotable Les Miles, among a handful of other sites), and all redirect to the same blank white screen. Clearly, the Pac-10/12 simply must have Pac12.com.

As for that site, the domain was initially created in July 2005, and the current owner's registration expires in six months. Whether it's ever been used as anything other than an obscure, mercantilist shrine to Tupac, I don't know. But it was last updated on Feb. 1 – a day before the Pac-10 filed its complaint with the WIPO, likely in an attempt to keep the conference from claiming the site as dormant and/or abandoned. I'm a fake doctor, not a lawyer, so I won't speculate on the possible outcome of an intellectual property case. But these domain squatters, man, they're harder than they look.

NEXT IN LINE

When you think recent LSU D-Linemen you think of names like Dorsey, Lavalais, Williams, Wroten, Jean-Francois and Nevis. That list might be adding a name in the next few years. Anthony Johnson, aka "The Freak", inked with the Tigers this past Wednesday and looks to carry on the tradition. 6'3 294 and quick as a cat, Johnson is a name that will surely be on this list before it's all said and done.

SIGN OF THE APOCALYPSE

Global warming my ass! People, it snowed in south Texas. If this isn't a sign that the world is coming to an end I don't know what is. Stock up on dry goods and ammo. Shit just got real.

Case of the Mondays?

Here's the cure.....Turn the volume all the way up on the first video and turn the volume all the way down on the second video and enjoy. It works. Trust me. And since they aren't the same run time, you get to watch the second video twice to enjoy the full force of what "the Crue" is bringing in the first video. I should seriously do highlight videos for some NFL team.

Odd Stats about this Blog

So I'm looking at some of the features they offer here with having your own blogosphere platform and I'm just a little bewildered. On our statistics page there is a heading for, "Page Views By Country". We obviously, it is overwhelmingly in favor of the US of A. However, here are a few of the countries and there respected times a page has been viewed......

US - 5946
Canada - 123
Netherlands - 103
Russia - 89
Germany - 70
France - 35
China - 33
UK - 24
Israel - 21
Latvia - 18

Really?!! Latvia - 18!!? Come on Latvia, you can do better than that.

Now my intial instinct is that Mac, being a person who is associated with many peeps in the Military has got some followers who are stationed afar. At least, I hope that is the case.

In addition, page views by operating system?..... And for those of you that aren't sure what that is, are you a MAC or a PC? Well in this case, PC dominates by 73% and MAC viewership is at 22%. No biggie, but one person in this whole big world has viewed this blog on a Wii. So I'm guessing you are just fooling around, maybe playing some Wii sports Bowling or Tennis and decided to look us up. Well, we are flattered and honored oh gamer on a break.

Gonna be a "Hairy" Super Bowl!!

One more week and its all over for this year and possibly next year, barring a labor dispute resolution. There sure is good deal of hair flying around in this game. Its like a barbers dream with this Super Bowl. As for Crockett, I just really don't know which way to pull in this one. I'd like to see the Pack get it done so maybe it would nip all this discussion now and in the future about how Aaron Rodgers lives in Brett Favre's shadow because he hasn't won a Super Bowl. Nothing against Favre, he's great. One of the best ever. I just get sick and tired of all the drama and watching a 30 minute broadcast on the NFL and 25 minutes is some discussion about him and comparing Rodgers to him. I don't think there will ever be another Favre. I just don't think that it is humanly possible to play as many games in a row as he did with all the punishment he has taken over the years. As my good buddy Sweatpea says, " Brett Favre is the toughest SOB in the NFL". Never a truer statement has come from anyone wiser and his records for yardage will hold for a good many years as well.
However, on the flipside, I really like the Steelers. Big Ben is a proven winner, but it seems from listening to the knuckleheads on sports talk radio, he doesn't have the street cred he deserves. I'm sure allot of that comes from his actions off the field. Maybe he just isn't respected as much as say a Brady or a Manning. But Three Super Bowls should be the cure-all for that dilemma. Unless of course, he commits another forcefully sexual act or rolls his motorcycle. I also, like the weapons the Steelers have on the offensive side of the Ball. I guess I am just partial to Mike Wallace because he's a Rebel. And the Steelers D is a tremendous strength as well. I felt like that in August when I took them off the board in the 9th round of my long tenured Fantasy Football league in which Mac is the Commish. They played solid all year long and were a tremendous asset, as I finished 3rd in the league. Mac won the league. Wait what, 1st and 3rd from the same blog? WTH? Could be a conspiracy? However, the Pack D is no pushover and had there team been healthy all year, they probably wouldn't have had to play road warriors to get to the Super Bowl.
I suppose from reading this, one could make the assessment that I am pulling for the Steelers. But, I'm really not. I'm actually cheering for whatever numbers I get on the Big Super Bowl board from our friends at "The Row". Looking forward to the game.

The Mechanic!!

First off, let me just say that I celebrate the entire Jason Statham catalog. Snatch; Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels; The Transporter Franchise; and a lesser know flick called The Bank Job to name a few. All are quality and entertaining to me. This one does not fall off from his previous work. Lotsa action, lotsa shooting, and some fairly unrealistic action stunts. But, its a movie. Its entertainment, so the unrealistic stuff is a non-factor in my book. This is not so much a date movie if you were wanting to catch a flick with your sweetie. It does have possibly one of the coolest beginnings to a film. A rather Excellent utilization of stealth. The ending was a bit of a downer, but then again, how are you gonna end a movie this packed with nonstop blowing shit up. The co-star, Ben Foster is really solid as a "sidekick". I guess being a villain type character is good for him as he did it so well in "3:10 to Yuma". Anyhoo, I liked it and it doesn't drag. No soft spots. Its a mans movie

I may sue!!

I came up with this title track about two years ago at work. You don't believe me! Go ask Terrence(former dishwasher). He works at Wal-mart now. Now granted, I didn't have lyrics and everything, but I was definately going to sample, "I got five on it". I don't know how this leeked out to "Big Cheese". Maybe Terrence did it, maybe not. Anyway, this old news "Big Cheese". Go steal someone elses dreams, chubby!!

Oh and in case you are wondering, Terrence and I came up with about 15 songs from related menu items and the songs to sample. "shrimp juice(pimp juice)", "I got 9 dressings, but French ain't one of them(I got 99 problems, but a bitch ain't one of them)", "cooking mezzi(riding dirty)", and "fry that chicken(woop that trick)" just to name a few. I saw him the other day and he asked me when we were gonna drop tracks on that album. I guess "Big Cheese" has the rights to our first single now. Shit!

Pig Sooooeeyy!!!

I guess this is worldwide news now. I open up one of my personal fav websites, barstoolsports.com and scroll down and low and behold there is a headline that reads, " Does This Look Like The Face Of A Man Caught F###ing Hogs?" Well, I suppose it does. Hey its nice and all for the hometown to get some recognition, but this really isn't what we had in mind, ya know. Anyway, here is the excert from the barstool..........

GREENWOOD – Authorities said a man who was caught having sex with show hogs will have his case presented to the Leflore County Grand Jury next month. Andrew Lee Nash, 52, was arrested on Dec. 3, 2010 after police set up surveillance cameras in the owner’s stalls near U.S. Highway 82 and the Yazoo River. Greenwood Police Chief Henry Purnell said the hogs were examined by a local veterinarian, during a routine examination, and the owner was told that four of the hogs had a vaginal infection. “The owner of the animals knew someone was messing with his animals,” said Chief Investigator Huntley Nevels. “And the veterinarian confirmed the sexual assault. So, the owner contacted police and the officers staked it out and caught him out there.”

And of course the response from blogger elpresidente:

What type of lunatic has sex with hogs? Like horses I can understand. They kind of have a royal look about them. Kind of strut that ass when they walk. But pigs? Fucking gross. Nothing glamourous about pigs. Oh wait. These were show hogs.? Well I guess that’s a little different story than. Probably all dressed to the 10′s and shit

Way to go Mr. Nash, you have put us on the map?

WELCOME TO MY LIFE

I don't know who, but someone who does the same job as me somewhere made this video called "A day in the life of a CATM troop" (CATM is Combat Arms Training and Maintenance aka. my job) It pretty much sums up most conversations I have on a daily basis with people in the Air Force who joined thinking they would get a desk job and never have to carry a weapon or go to war. You may not get all of it but it at least should get across what I deal with at least once or twice a week. Enjoy.

Its Soul Finger!!!!

As much as I like this, I still can't figure out how they have a white dude in the band. I suppose it because he is playing the organ. Yeah that sounded wrong, but in all seriousness, maybe there wasn't a large group of black people that could rock an organ like whitey back in those days. To each his own.

On a sidenote, there getup is strikingly reminiscent of the attire in one of the greatest movies ever....The Warriors.

You decide for yourselves...

Maybe its just me, but....

......Doesn't this guy look like.......

................This Guy?

In this day and age, it wouldn't shock me if they were related. They both have that Samoan decent or shall I say, look about them. They both make(made) there living being among the best in there profession. And they both like to fly through the air. I suppose its the theatrics that airborne assault brings to the table that makes them appealing. Nonetheless, Jimmy "The Superfly" Snuka is a legend in the realm of Pro Wrestling. And the path Troy is on has him headed in the same direction. Not in wrestling of course. However, maybe a little action after retirement. He wouldn't be the first football player to cross over.

and of course Troy,

Zoey's first trick

Just realized the last post Crockett put up made it 666 total posts. Figured I'd post something to get to the next number. So, here is a vid of Zoey's first trick. She learned it today. She is definitely smarter than me. It took me a week to learn this one.

A case of the Tuesday's

Seems a little fitting considering Auburn just won the National Championship with a Heisman winning Quarterback who spent most of his season amid controversy regarding some improper payments for his services. And these guys are from Seattle and thats close enough to Oregon for me.

And the Dominance Continues....

Well another year in the books and once again, a team from the SEC wins the National Championship in football. 5 years in a row now, might as well be a decade. I know lots of peoples were thinking it was gonna be a high scoring affair and I figured it would have gotten into the thirties at least. Not the case and I kinda got the sense that Auburn could have easily put up 30-40 points had they not shot themselves in the foot so many times. And the flipside of that is Oregon could have won the game with all the opportunities that Auburn gave them. Give Oregon credit, they are scrappy and they got after Auburn and forced some turnovers at key times in the contest. Auburn made plenty of mistakes that could have made the game not close and Oregon just kept hanging around and fighting. It was a good one to watch and I hope you had the under. Till Next year, later.

Pic of the day

Not sure if you've seen this, but in my book, it just doesn't get any better. I happen to love Mrs. Butterworths Syrup. It is quite possibly the unhealthiest syrup on the market, but what syrup is really healthy. It just taste so good when it hits your lips. And I doubt you ever find a better representation of a waffle costume.

Tuesday!!

My boy Chester had a late night the other night and shot me a text entitled, "Youtube Nirvana Love Buzz, don't forget where you came from hoss". And while I don't know if that was a request to get some airplay or not, regardless, I will honor it and assure him that I have not forgot where I came from. Thanks Chester for the text. This one is for you.

Golden Voice

Saw this on "the barstool". This guy does have a great voice. Surely there is some radio station in that area that is gonna jump on this guy. I mean talent like this doesn't come along every day. This guy could be the next Casey Kasem with that magic that comes out when he speaks. If I had a radio station, I'd hire him in a heartbeat, if he passes a drug test.

Owen Maricic!!

If you are like me, then you probably didn't watch much Stanford football this year other than last night. I recall hearing about this guy when he scored two TD's in 13 seconds earlier this year against Notre Dame, but obviously I hadn't watched him play. Well, this is now my boy. A two way player, which is virtually unheard of in this day and age of college football, and this guy is a beast. A fullback and a Linebacker for the Cardinals, and while his stats don't light up the box score, its the things he does on the field and how he plays is what impressed me the most. Couple that with the fact that he is obviously very intelligent, as he has to know all the offensive plays and the defensive plays. And based on what we learned last night, Stanford has some 300 plays in there playbook.
Well I know he had a TD rushing the ball and had roughly 4 yards on 3 carries. In addition, he had a sack in the game and I saw him in on a handfull of tackles. But the thing I really dig about this kid, is the way he blocked. I spent the majority of the game just watching him and Owen made some great blocks. This guy is tough. At fullback and linebacker, you are constantly involved in some type of head-on collision, and Owen was on the field for something like 80-90 plays. That's a whole bunch of hits on the body and lots of punishment both giving and taking.

At this point, who knows what kind of player this guy will be in the NFL, but he is listed as the #2 Fullback in college. So he will probably get an opportunity to take it to the next level. This guys a football player. Bar none. Hope you all saw the game and paid him a little attention, because he did a really good job. Not to mention, the guy rocks a pretty sweet mullet.
